I was browsing through this book on happiness at Chapters this past week. And, it seems we have a happiness "set" point. Even people who are deliriously happy upon getting married, usually return to their set point after a couple of years. (Don't tell them that will happen).

I may go back and buy the book. It is called The How of Happiness by Sonja Lyubomirsky. I have heard that lottery winners are initially elated of course, but return to their set point of happiness in time.

That sounds like an interesting book and an interesting concept. I believe some people have a negative attitude no matter what happens. They always look at the bad things. Other people seem to see the good in things.

I see it IRL and even on the Dis. Some people seem to get offended by every freaking thing. It makes me wonder if they are happy people or always look for something negative to say. Other people seem friendly and positive.

I think happiness comes from within. That is interesting that we may all have our own set points.

I wonder Bluestars if one can change her set point to a higher level for happiness?

I know my friend the other day was saying the little things in life, like going for a walk, while seemingly inconsequential, are, after all, what brings us happiness in life. She's been on a world cruise and believe me, that made her happy but her point is that from day to day we have to find things that make us happy in the here-and-now.
