Happiness and Saddness

Hey everyone. Hows everyone doing. Well, I had a great vacation. My wife, brother-in-law and his wife, my two nieces and nephews had the time of there lives. The only problem, which I feared was, my teenage nephew (17), seemed like all he wanted to do was sleep. And his father and mother didn't want to leave him at the room while we hit the parks. So we were'nt hitting the parks till 11AM-12PM. That was alittle trying. While everone else was up @ 7-8AM, he and his sister (21) were getting up late. We didn't do Illuminations or Fantasmic (which we always hit at least on our 2nd or 3rd day). Overall, we still had a great time. On a sad note, we came home to find out that my wife and her brothers' Mom was dying at a rapid rate. She had Colon Cancer. She fought it since 2004, but lost her battle this past Thursday. I'm very thankful for being able to take her to DisneyWorld in 02, 05, and 07. Her favorite park was Disneys Animal Kingdom (made sure we were on time for the Festival of the Lion King), Indiana Stunt Show, and Fantasmic.

Well, my wife and I will be going back in the last week of October. I'll have another great report then.

I am sorry! I would have explained that time in the park was important and if they wanted to stay behind to call when they arrived and I would be happy to meet them and spend the rest of the day. If the kids had been mine they would have gotten up and moving. How selfish to allow a child to effect the vaction of everyone else.

I too am very sorry for your loss. I guess that I missed this part of your post due to trying to avoid my own grieving. In the last 4 years I lost my mother, then a baby sister at age 44, and just this past May my mother-in-law. It is never easy to lose a person you care about even if you have time to prepare. Many blessings to you and all of the family.

So sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Cancer, unfortunately, is no stranger to my family.

As for the kids, it is too bad your brother-in-law and his wife didn't feel more comfortable leaving him (unless you stayed off property.) My son is 16 and morning sleep was high on his list - lol. He just called when he got up, checked where we were and hit the bus. When he got to the park he called again and we arranged where to meet. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this if he had to take a taxi or something, but it is hard to get lost with a Disney bus. My kids have been doing this a few years (DD is 19) and the first my son did so solo.

Also... enjoy your trip in October. Since I teach, we always go in August and have never gone in the fall. MNSSHP is on my retirement (in the distant future) wish list!
