Happily Ever After. Why do people stand???

We have never sat for the actual fireworks, mainly because everyone stands and you cannot see if you sit. But we have sat right up until the lights dim for the show. Once the lights are dim, I would be concerned to have someone trip over me or something. Not excessively concerned with being stampeded though.

Like many posters I'm actually really surprised that you were able to sit so much during the fire works. I've been going to WDW for years and have never sat and have only heard people get yelled at for sitting. It would be great if there was a way to make people sit but it doesn't make much sense and is super dangerous. I can't believe CMs let you and others do this in the past. We've only been able to sit once for Celebrate the Magic one time when the park was very empty and we were leaning against a railing on the ground right in front of the castle. We've also been lucky for Illuminations as we always sit in Mexico close to an hour before the show right near the railing. The first couple of rows would sit down and everyone else behind would stand.

Sitting on the ground is very painful for me. I've been going to WDW since 1977 and have never been able to sit for fireworks.

Same for me - I am unable to sit on the ground so it will never be something I can do. I don't mind standing, but kids on shoulders and iPads sticking up annoy me.

I always stand up and I prefer so.
Plus castmembers always tell people to stand up for safety reasons.

Last year was the first time (and only thank God) we watched sitting because no one got up (idk why). It was a mess with all strollers blocking views and people kicking hands and arms trying to stretch. it was terrible. I feel more comfortable standing than sitting, even been very tired from walking all day long.
Standing is way much better imo.

My DD has always hated the fireworks because she can't really see anything with everyone around her standing. She would beg not to watch them.
