Happily Ever After. Why do people stand???

I have been going to Disney World for 5 years straight now and just recently got back. I have never had to stand during the nighttime show at Magic Kingdom . My first time viewing Happily Ever After this year and was disappointed how literally everyone stands up!! Little children and children in general cannot see!! If we all sit everyone can see! Every single year my family and I have been able to sit down after a very long and exhausting day and truly relax and enjoy the show! and get this everyone could see!! This year was totally different!! was so upset about this. Not sure if it was because the crowd was larger than in the past or what. Please people just sit down!!

I have never sat down for fireworks during the dozens of visits I have made. That just isn't going to happen that everyone sits down.

While I agree with you 100%, I will add that we have never been able to sit for Wishes or HEA (except for when we get the reserved area with the dessert party). They can pack more people in when standing and if sitting, strollers/wheelchairs etc would still block the view of some, but it sure would be nice if everyone sat.

What are you talking about? People have never been allowed to sit for the nightly MK Fireworks. They always make an announcement about 10 min before the show that everyone needs to stand and pack in.

Unless you were in the special viewing areas in the grass?

When we went in January 2017, the whole front section from the statute up was sitting with the exception of a group of about 4 people in the very front section (about 8 rows back) that stood which made everyone directly behind them have to also stand. It was wonderful being able to sit and to let all the children be able to see as well. This was during the show and the fireworks.

I used to be able to sit for wishes. I sat near the hub maybe near the partners statue if I remember correctly or right in front of it. HEA was an absolute nightmare. We were near Casey's. People were crammed in so bad I almost had an anxiety attack. There was no way all those people would be able to sit. They wouldn't fit. My 8 year old missed the whole show. He couldn't see. I'm only 125 lbs. There's no way I could hold him up that long. In my opinion its dangerous to have that many people in one spot. It took forever to get out of that crowd.

I've only ever seen people that were sitting be told to stand by the CM's. Something about a safety hazard.

I would not want to be sitting in a huge crowd when one person panics for whatever reason and starts a stampede going out. While a pain, standing is best for everyone.

Sitting seems dangerous in that big of a crowd. They usually let people sit while waiting, then everyone has to stand when it's about to start.

That's the downside to HEA with the projections. Everyone now wants to be in the hub or Main Street.

It would be nice to all be sitting, but it won't happen.

People have been standing for years. Standing for Wishes and standing for HEA. This is why I enjoyed booking the wishes FP
because we would sit in the back area and lean against the fence.

All it takes is a few people to stand and everyone will stand. Add in that CM's want you to stand so no one gets stepped on or trips

We did the dessert party Presidents week in the plaza viewing area. Everyone sat and it was wonderful!

We sat during Wishes in 2016 and it was so relaxing. It was the first time we hadn't stood in the middle of main street and instead we sat in the grass in the hub. We put out a blanket and the kids could see and all was well. Its a bummer that its not an option, but when we were there it wasn't busy enough to need to stand and pack in. There was plenty of space for other families to sit in that area. I guess we will have to come up with another plan for HEA, since the reports im reading here sound like the crowding is much worse with this show than it was with Wishes.

You don't even need someone to panic to create a terrible situation, once the show ends people will start rushing to leave and obviously moving at different rates which will just create huge issues in a crowd that big, no thank you!

I’m more annoyed with the darn smart devices in my face. Always turn around to make sure there are no kiddos who can’t get a good view either, but I never not stood. I wish I could sit!

Other than dessert party areas I have never seen people sit. People always stand because they have to and it makes sense. Sitting would be a nightmare.

Sitting might make sense for just a firework show, but you can't see all the projections on the castle unless every person in the Hub sat.

Literally (!!) a death trap? Look, I don't expect to ever sit for a Disney show like HEA, but I've been at numerous public outdoor events where people sit. I don't understand how sitting is dangerous.

CMs typically ask people to stand and rightfully so. Sitting is so dangerous especially with the rush to leave right when the show ends. People trying to leave while others stay sitting, not everyone getting up at the same time, etc. Not to mention that if everyone sat it would be a complete nightmare in an emergency. I don’t even like sitting while camping out - I see so many people come and go from their spots for the bathroom, diaper changes, snacks, drinks, etc. and with everyone sitting it’s such a trip hazard stepping over people. I can’t imagine what it would be like in an emergency situation.

I sure wish my toddlers (and I, to be honest) could see better, but everyone sitting is not the way. Luckily, I’m not a fan of projections on the beautiful and beloved Cinderella castle. Because of that, HEA from the hub doesn’t do much for me so I am happy to watch from afar from now on. Until my kids are old enough to request watching it from in the park, that is.
