When we last did the Magic Kingdom dessert party, the seating was assigned. We are going back and this will be our first time going without assigned seating. Questions for you experts!

We're a family of 7. How early do we need to arrive to get a good table? Can a couple of us wait in line, or do we all need to get there early? We have some older family members in the group who won't stand for fireworks, so I'm hoping for a table with the best view possible. Are there tables set up to accommodate 7 people near the front? Thanks for any insights!

Aren't those seats pre assigned best on when you booked?
They were pre-assigned a few years ago, but I believe they stopped doing this a year or 2 ago. You book the party in advance, but then select your own table when you arrive.

When we went in November, we were assigned to a table. I do not know if this occurred prior to check in or if the table was assigned when we arrived. It seems to me that the tables all closest to the wall were smaller, but there was a party of 8 just behind us who would have had the same view of the fireworks.
