Anyone do this race this year? I must say of all the races I have done this was by far my LEAST favorite. The biggest issue I had with this race was their lack to port o johns! I am one of those people that has to make about two stops (sometimes more and sometimes I don't stop at all) during a race...but never have I ever had to wait as long in line to use the limited pop's as I did in this race. The first pop was mile 4 I think and there was only 1!
I was wondering if anyone did this race and if this was something that effected you?

That just effected me in a bad way. It didn't help the fact also that it pelted down rain just as the race began and everyones feet were already soaked before crossing the start line. Mother nature, what can we do? Nor was it the fact that my feet were aching me from foolishing wearing flip flops for days on end before the race - my feet were sore from them.

It was one of those races were it all did not come together for me...but I think aside from sore feet and pelting rain, the lack of pop for the first few miles of the race did me in.

I didn't run in the Hapalua this year but I did run it last year and I noticed the same thing. I really needed a porta John from about mile 10 on. Ended up using flush bathrooms in Kapiolani Park after the finish. Still PR'd but it was not fun by any stretch.

I though that the issue was this was a small first year race then I did Honolulu Marathon and noticed that same lack of Porta Johns. There were I think about two every three miles or so. With a start field the same size as Disney you can see the problems. Funny thing though Great Aloha Run and the other races not put on by Honolulu Marathon are fine for Porta Johns. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience at this race.

I posted it on their facebook page. I think the planning was very poor and I wouldn't have thought it would take much to take care of that. There were a lot of runners in this race and I would consider it pretty much unsanitary to organize a race like that. I wonder how many runners had to just go somewhere for lack of a john.
After I posted my concerns on their page, someone did post back thanking me for the suggestion.
I don't know if its money or lack of knowledge but I think they need to look into other races and see how its done correctly.
I have been in very small races with numbers in the lower 100's with more facilities than this one...which had quite a lot of runners.
Also it rained cats and dogs that morning but the bib just barely survived the wet. It was dangling off by one (out of four) pins and the numbers were fading away. Some runners lost their bibs completely.
