Hanging up my running shoes-Update on ZellyB

Not, that I'm not interested in your running reports, but MAN!! Your backyard is GINORMOUS!! That's one good-looking pool.

Thanks! We are lucky and live just a bit off a main highway on some land my parents bought 20 years ago. They gave us a lot to build on and then we bought the lot next to us from my sister since she didn't want to build out here. It's pretty awesome. Feels like you are out in the country, but you are 2 minutes from the highway.

BREAKING NEWS!
giphy.gif

I mentioned that this week we were going to up our intervals to 2:00/:30 on our shorter runs, so today was the first day of that. We did our regular 4 mile loop and ended up with an overall pace of 10:22 - and even got faster on the later miles.
IMG_3732_zps9at2pfvc.png

That's a great pace for me especially over the last year or so. I've had this hope to get a half marathon PR at the Mo' Cowbell race in October to use as POT for Dopey. My current PR is 2:19:07 and I'd love to get a 2:15, but I've been quite a bit slower than that over the last couple of years since I got the PR. Anyway, a 10:22 pace equates to a 2:15:54 half, so if I keep up the training and also I'll be up to probably 20 miles or so on the long runs by October since we'll be training for our marathon in November, I'm hoping I might actually be able to hit a 2:15 half. Who knows? It's a long way from here to October, but I was pretty stoked about the run this morning. I was definitely pushing myself, but it felt very manageable. Woohoo!

Awesome job!! :worship:

Your hard work is paying off! I have no doubt that you will get to that 2:15! ::yes::

Hurray for a new PR on the horizon!! Just out of curiosity, what corral were you in agian for this past Dopey with your 2:19 POT?

I love EVERYTHING about your training week recap and gifs. Falling asleep meerkat is my new spirit animal!
You deserve your restful week and AWESOME pace for your most recent run!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - and now I have a new thing to stalk...waiting for the expo map to appear!!

Thank you! I'm actually starting to think I might pull it off!

:woohoo:

Way to go!

Thanks!

2:19 POT landed me in H. That was for the Goofy challenge, so I don't know if Dopey would have landed me in a different corral, but I doubt it. I'm thinking a 2:15 might bump me up to G.

EXPO!!!! I'm not really even planning to buy much, but I'm running out of things to obsess about for our trip.

EXPO!!!! I'm not really even planning to buy much, but I'm running out of things to obsess about for our trip.

I definitely need a map so I can pre-plan all the booths I will slowly walk past and then walk a little closer and then kind of touch a bunch of stuff without picking it up and then maybe at the end come back and walk slowly by it all again. And then not buy anything from it. And then while I'm on the plane flying home I'll regret not buying whatever thing I was looking at. And then I'll vow to buy it next race. And then I'll forget it existed until I'm at the next expo and then I'll slowly touch it again and not buy it. My husband calls this "pollinating" and its how he picks presents for me...he just watches for what I "pollinate" the most and then waits for xmas.
Yep - I definitely need a map for this!!! :)

I love "pollinating". I do that with my sister at TJMaxx when trying to figure out a gift. She does "cart shopping". So, she puts things she might want in her cart and wanders around the store and ponders it. Usually by the end of the wandering, she puts back 90% of what she put in the cart because she can't rationalize buying it for herself. Then I go back the next day and buy stuff for her. :)

This is me!!! Except my husband calls it "scanning." Apparently, there is some kind of rapid eye movement thing that I do while assessing the merchandise.

Training Week 4/23 – 4/29
April showers – need to GO AWAY!!!
tumblr_nmg6fmRE0e1sp65azo5_250.gif

So, once again between weather and crazy spring work schedules, it was a pathetic training week. :(

giphy.gif

Sunday 4/23 – Shared on last week’s update. 8 mile run.

Monday 4/24 – We did manage to get up in the morning and back to strength training. It wasn’t too bad, given that we’d had a week off from it.

Weight gain/loss -2.6 lbs. for the week. -12.4 lbs total. Yay!!! After being stalled out for a bit, I had another pretty good loss. That’s where I think I am right now with things. Hitting small plateaus and then dropping some. Still hanging in there, but really looking forward to that Disneyland trip and giving myself a break for a short time. Bring on the carbs!

Calories – 1177
Carbs – 24

Tuesday 4/25 – I shared already my giddy happiness about Tuesday’s run. 4 miles at a 2:00/:30 interval. Overall pace of 10:22.
And thus ends the training portion of this week’s update. :rolleyes1

Calories - 1225
Carbs – 26

Wednesday 4/26 – Chris had an early meeting at work and I needed to take my mom to the airport, so no strength training today.
Calories – 1335
Carbs – 34

Thursday 4/27 – This time I was the one with an early meeting at work, so no running for us this day. Chris is also fighting a bit of a pull in his glute, so we decided it wasn’t a bad idea to take it easy. Don’t want to risk an injury before Tink! Taper madness, people.

Carbs – 42

Friday 4/28 – And the rains begin. Thus began a solid three days of torrential downpours here.
Calories - 1196
Carbs – 67 (little bit high on this)

Saturday 4/29 – This was supposed to be our kickoff of our training season. We got up to meet the group at 7:30, but there was too much lightening and storms in the area, so the run got canceled. We had a good turn out anyway and got to meet up some new folks joining our pace group along with some familiar faces. We should have a good number running with us this year. So, yay!
And the rains continued…

Carbs – 73 (oops – higher still)

So yeah, not a good week. We really have to get ourselves back on the wagon!!!

The rain here was insane. We had some major flooding in our home town. We have a small (normally) river that runs through town and it flooded a lot of the lower lying portions of town (including our normal running route around the park). Craziness here. Still raining lightly today, but waters are beginning to recede. Chris had to work most of yesterday cleaning out a school building that was flooded. Here’s a drone shot of it.

And the Chinese restaurant across the street.

Back behind the restaurant is one of the roads we normally run on our weekly runs. Here's the
bridge we run across at the park.

Yowza!!!

We should get a break from the rain until Wednesday when another short round hits. But, man, I’m ready for the April showers to leave and bring on the May flowers!!

Wow! That flooding is really scary! Stay safe! Only 1 more full week until Tink! Yay! (Also, way to go on the weight loss- that is fantastic!!)

Yeah, it was a crazy weekend with the weather. Tink is almost here and I'm so excited!!! :tinker:

And, thank you about the weight loss. I've been pretty happy with how it has gone this time around.

Well geez - I definitely don't blame you for not getting the runs in this week! Stay safe!!

And I TOTALLY feel you on the taper madness...I'm to the stage where I am chugging Emergen-C drinks and am analyzing every little ache. Sigh!!

How close to your home is that flooding!! That is crazy!! My mom lives on the river here, and the water is knocking on the front door, so if the rain doesn't stop tonight they'll need to evacuate.

Chris and I both have all these aches and pains that we are panicking about. LOL

About 3 miles or so, but our home is totally safe. We are at a higher elevation and quite a ways from the river bed. I hope your mom is okay and won't have to evacuate! Yikes.
