Three of us will be staying in a cat. 3 stateroom and I heard that there isnt enough drawer space so if you don't want to live out of your suitcase bring along plastic hangers. I can't believe that you can't ask you room steward for hangers and get them. Is Disney that low on the totem pole of cruise lines that they don't provide extra hanger when asked? This is my first Disney cruise, but if that is true, it will be my last. :scared1:

I have not needed more hangers but I have read here that all you need to do is ask. Try searching to see if you can find out for sure.

Linda

We have asked and got more hangers from our room attendant. No problem.

Have a magical trip :)

Wow, you would never cruise Disney again just because they might not be able to provide extra hangers?
:confused3

Actually I don't think it will be an issue. We asked for and received additional hangers on one of the longer cruises. They were wire hangers though.

As Andrew already mentioned DCL tends to go above and beyond, especially for concierge guests. I bet your extra hangers will even be of the wood variety.

We had 5 staying in a Cat 3 - 3 adults and 2 children. There was plenty of drawer space and although we didn't ask for more hangers, I'm sure our stateroom host would have brought them.

It might take some time, but I am going to test this in my Cat 3 in 2009.:thumbsup2

I want wood ones!

Whoa....slow down......you are basing whether or not you would cruise again on Disney based on what one person told you about hangers......I hope you were joking!!!

After 16 DCL cruises I can assure you that if you need more hangers you will get them.....as already mentioned they may not be wood ones but you will get hangers.....

Not sure how many cruiselines you have sailed but DCL is very high up on the totem pole of cruise lines...they sail full most every sailing so they must be doing something right!!!!.....please do some more research before you make up your mind about a cruiseline you have not even sailed on yet.

I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise:cool1:

I agree completely.....I've never heard of hangers being a deal-breaker before :rotfl:

We sail in a Catagory 5 - and have found that there are plenty of hangers for the 3 of us - and I like to hang up everything that isn't considered "pool wear". :thumbsup2

Also, there is plenty of drawer space - I don't know about the Cat 3's, but Cat 5's have "cubbies" in the closet, a chest of drawers next to the closet, the steamer trunk with shelves, 6 drawers in the vanity next to the verandah, and if needed 2 nightstand drawers. I'm guessing, and I'm sure Andrew will concur, that there are at least that many, if not more in the Cat 3's.

The Passporter newsletter had a tip printed from a reader that stated there was not enough space to put your clothing in drawers and closets so bring extra plastic hangers if you don't want to live out of your suitcase.

I found the statement very puzzling when I read it because we have NEVER had an issue with storage space. The fact that my kids clothes are always on the cabin floor has nothing to do with storage space and everything with their horrible habits :rotfl:

Maybe the reader had a cabin without one of the steamer trunks and that is why they had so little storage space. I can't comment because we've never had a cabin without the trunk. We have had empty shelves in the trunk with 4 of us in the room.

I also can't imagine anyone living out of a suitcase because there is no way to store a suitcase so you could get items out of it easily.

Bottom line - don't worry about hangers, there will be enough space to store your clothing and you can always ask for more hangers if needed.

The tip was very misleading.

Holy cow, how much luggage did that tipster have? :scared1: :lmao:

Amen!

There is NOWHERE to put a full suitcase, unless you leave it on the table or you move it from the floor to the bed every day. You will have LOTS of closet space. If you double and triple up your clothes on the hangers (i.e., put a shirt, pants and jacket on one hangar instead of using 3 hangars for one outfit), this will help, but your steward can definitely bring more hangars.

Enough bashing, back on topic:

On all our cruises, I always go to my dry cleaners and get a bunch of new wire hangers that she ties together for me (15 each) and split them up in our suitcases. We spend enough money at the dry cleaners it's the least she can do :rotfl2:

Then I leave them for our room attendant who is always thankful. :thumbsup2 I'd bring wire instead of plastic, less room and less stuff to bring home ;)

Packing and unpacking is so easy .... I stack all the boy's shirts on the bed, fold them once over, put them in the suitcase. When I unpack and fold out the stack, I just stick those wire hangers in them and up they go.

For nicer clothes, I ask for the bags. I hang those clothes up and put the bags around them then fold them over once in the suitcase. Unpacking I just pick up the hangers and hang them all up. So easy. :)

Have a great first Disney cruise! :)

I do basically the same thing but actually pack my clothes on the hangers....I use the plastic coated wire ones from Wal-Mart...makes unpacking simple....take out of the suitcase and hang up.

I prefer to sail on Holland America and never sail in anything less there than a full suite so I get free laundry and dry cleaning and there is never a shortage of anything! What i do with my clothing is never a problem. I take it off and put it in a bag for them to return on a hanger. Disney does not provide free laundry and dry cleaning so I going blind into a whole new world.

Hello-

We just cruised last month. I asked our room steward for more hangers. He asked if I needed the wood ones, and I said that plastic would be fine. When we returned from dinner, there were a dozen additional plastic hangers in my closet....No problem! You'll be fine! hope this helps! Have a great trip:flower3:

We just returned last night from a 3 night cruise in a category 6 stateroom. We had 26 excellent quality wooden hangers in our room. Half of them had clips to hang pants or skirts and the other half had the metal bar that runs along the bottom right next to the wooden rod so that you could use those for slacks too. I was pleased and impressd with both the quantity and quality of what they gave us. In additon, the drawer and shelf space was more than adequate. It's interesting because when I saw what they provided I took it as an example of Disney's commitment to quality and excellent service.

SilverQueen,

Great example of making lemonade out of the lemons of 26 wooden hangers! ;)

Seriously, I never really counted as we had so many....but 26 is pretty darned good!
