:D Hi. Has anyone ever stayed in a Catagory 11 Handicapped Stateroom? Hubby and I are booked in #6147 for a 4 Day Wonder cruise in October.. We have stayed in 6154 and 6654 and found them both to be very spacious for our needs. Our concern was the size of the cabin since we have gone from a Catagory 6 to Cat. 11.

Thanks for your help :D

Is 6147 an interior room? We stayed in 6154 on the Feb. 27 Wonder & loved it . My friend Steve has muscular dystrophy & uses a huge power wheelchair so the room was great. It was huge! We happened to go into 6147 to take a look when the door was open ( Nobody was staying there at the time). It looked very nice & spacious, not quite as big as 6154 but still plenty of space. We are staying in 6654 on the Feb. 2004 Wonder. Is it just as nice as 6154? Cathie

I was with a friend who used a large scooter. This room was very large and comfortable with the scooter in it. Plenty of room to move around and the bathroom was very large and the shower was great.

One gripe I would have is the bed. The person I was with has problems with her knees and cannot get up from a low bed. This bed was so low, it was unbelievable. The steward ended up putting an extra cusion of some sort on the sofa and she had to sleep there. It was sad that she was uncomfortable on this sofa when it's supposed to be a disabled room.

The only other gripe I would have about the room is that it is the last room at the back of the ship. Trying to get a scooter or wheelchair down the corridor, especially when full of suitcases or cleaning carts was quite difficult. It's a strange place to have a disabled room.

Hi Michigander When we stayed in Hanicapped Room 6154 we had the same problem with the low bed. It was very difficult for our friend to transfer to the bed. We are going again in Feb. 2004 & have already told our travel agent that we will need another mattress on the bed so he can transfer safely. I have also sent & a letter to DCL & told them about the problem with the bed & other accessiblility issues...like you mentioned the hallways are quite a challenge with all the cleaning carts & "Henry" vacs. It's too bad that all the handicapped rooms seem to be located in the aft section, they should have located some closer to the elevators. I wonder if all cruise lines locate their handicapped rooms in the aft section. I think Disney has one handicapped room in the forward section but it's the same problem with the hallways. If you decide to cruise again let Disney or your travel agent know your needs & they should be able to help. Hopefully in the future they will take all these issues into consideration. Thank you for your responses!!:D My husband and I have been on several Disney cruises, all on the Wonder. We have stayed in #6654 and #6154, both Handicapped staterooms which mirror one another and have fell in love with both of them!! The size of the rooms is unbelievable and plenty of room to manuever. The best part is the large balcony!! Great sunsets:D !

We took advantage of the Fall early booking rate and booked #6147 for $459.00 per person (4 night), I am a little concerned about the room size. I did see the pictures on the Castaway Club website... thanks Barb!! I feel better:D

Maybe the upgrade fairy will bless us and put us in our favorite room. I love the aft cabins, very private and love the view!

Have a great night!

just a question.

We are also booked in this stateroom next janurary. does it have both a couch and a murphy bed?

Barbs photos show a murphy bed in the suite directly above it, also a cat 11 handicap room.

I am extremely interested in the answer to this question.

Does anyone have a pic of room 6147 they can email me? My family and I are going on a 4 night Bahamian cruise through Make A Wish Foundation, for our 5 year old daughter, on August 8th. We have been booked in rooms 6147 and 6141. I tried clicking on the links above, and they did not open for me :(

Thanks in advance.
