We are bringing our 3 nephews (ages, 7, 5 & 3) in June. They lost their Mom to leukemia almost 3 years ago. She was a huge "Mickey" fan and we had promised her that we would bring her boys when they were older....so here we come! Anyway...we will have an ECV due to my husband having diabetic neuropathy and will have a handicapped room. I'm guessing we will be in Alligator Bayou because of the trundle bed situation?? Are all of the handicapped rooms in one area at POR? If not, is there a better area to request, maybe closer to bus stop, pool, etc? I have leg braces too but get around pretty well. Oh...we have the boys almost every weekend while their Dad works so....it's not like we're bringing children that we're not too familiar with. Oh....and is there any way we can mail ahead "surprise" packages to be waiting for them? Or do we have to take it with us and do it ourselves? That first day is going to be pretty crazy, I think! Thank you for any help & suggestions!!

We mailed packages ahead of us on our last trip! Same idea, gifts for the kids, snacks, etc. We mailed them directly to the resort with our name, check in date and ressie # on the box. We then sent the same boxes home (from the front desk) with our clothes in them, so we had enough room for all of our souvenirs in our luggage and we didn't have to carry anything on the plane! It worked great and I didn't have to do laundry until 3 days later!

laginog001 - Unfortunately I'm not familiar with POR, but check out the disABILITIES forum here on the boards. There's a couple posts regarding handicapped rooms at the different resorts. If you don't find the answers you're looking for, making a new post there might get you answers quicker than this forum. Hope this helps a little! :)

We just got back from POR Feb2nd. My husband is in a wheelchair. We stayed at building 14 in the AB section. It was very close to the dining and bus stop. I do not know if the hadicapped rooms are all together. I know it was very accessible with a king size bed. The other reply said you can find out more info on the handicapped link. I had started one concerning the boatride. It shows a picture of the ramp on the boatride. There is also some pictures of the handicapped room some where on that link.
