Does anyone know what handicap provisions are made at the Boardwalk Villa,s if we did not want a room on the first floor? We are having guests next summer and would like them to experience the thrill of Disney.
We've stayed in a 4th floor handicap unit when my brother (uses a scooter) and sister-in-law stayed with us. We let them stay in the 'master' bedroom and although the bed was on the common wall with the elevators, they were amazed that they couldn't hear ANY noise from the elevator shaft.
As to 'handicap' features, the shower stall was a 'roll in' type with a fold-down bench. The kitchen was a little larger to allow for a wheelchair to turn around - this does make the living room a little smaller and the eating counter is gone. I believe the kitchen sink was a roll under type and the counter was lowered. The microwave also sat on the counter. Of course, the doors were all wide enough to accomodate a scooter or wheelchair and had lowered peep hole.
I would also ask this question on the disABILITIES! board.
