Handicapped accessible rooms

One of the sailings we are looking at has only handicapped accessible balcony rooms available for our date. Obviously, it does say that if you book this, and someone needs it, they can bump you. Do you think this happens very often? If so, do you think the room they would bump you to would be in the same or better category (just don't want to end up without a balcony when we booked one! :) Also, is there anything about those room that would be a problem or less desirable for those WiTHOUT handicap accessible needs? Thank you!

I’m curious about this too as they have us booked in a accessible room and mentioned we could get bumped if it is needed.

I don’t know the raw numbers but I do see more than a few electric rascal thingies (pretty sure this is the official name) every cruise, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see those rooms fill up.

Would definitely talk to a TA or a Royal customer support rep to find out more.

Being a handicapped person I have to ask, Why would you book a handicapped room if you are not handicapped?

And I think you noted that you could get bumped for someone who needs the room, correct? Hence your dilemma.

We also didn’t book the room. The rep at RCCL chose that room because we have a large family and it would fit all of us. Normally I think they would have given us 2 connecting staterooms, but we booked the cruise less than two months out.

We are also booking within a few months of our sailing, so in a similar situation. Did the rep give you any idea of how the room differed from a regular balcony or how it would work if you were indeed bumped?

Ours is an ocean view room. He didn’t exactly explain what would happen if we were bumped, but did confirm that if we were bumped our price would not change. We have 6 people so I’m hoping we could only be bumped to something that would be an upgrade Maybe the royal suite

If you were able to book it, then it was released to general inventory. Meaning, demand for a HA cabin is low for that cruise. Most of the time they are booked as soon as the itinerary is released.

Can you be bumped? Yes. Will you? Probably not.
Can you end up in a lower category? Yes. You are typically compensated with OBC.

The bathroom can be annoying if it is a roll in although you do save your toes from the step up.
