Booked my Disney vacation yesterday thru Disney. I thought that would be best to assure my husbands needs were met. He is a quad and definetly needs a fully accessible restroom. I , my husband and our son are going on this trip. Now I read thru the boards and find that the only room that are fully accessible at the ASM is ones with a king bed. What is going to happen when I get there and there are 3 of us.. My son is 11 and it will get really crowded in a king bed. Please help with any suggestions:scared1:

I assume you told them when you booked the room there would be 3 of you? and I also assume that they had to put you on hold to book through special services, since CRO cannot book these rooms themselves they have to call for availabilty from special services. What did they tell you about accomodating the three of you?
If I were you and if you have a confirmation number now, I would call special services my self 407 939 7807 and go over the particulars with them making sure they know you have three people and see what they say. Oh when you booked the accessible room did you request roll in shower or just accessible room?

If you haven't called yet, you may want to check the information about resorts in the disABILITIES FAQs thread, so that you have information about the different types of accessible rooms.
If they know you have 3 people in a room with only beds for 2, they will make sure you are taken care of.

I did request a roll in shower when booking and they did put me on hold to call special requests. Thank you for the number. Think I will call and double check. My husband definetly needs a roll in shower not a tub. I just havine nightmares about getting there and something being wrong. It took me so long into talking my spouse into going.:sad1:

At least at the value resorts due to the volume of rooms, that also means that there are quite a few fully accessible roll in shower rooms. With three people you should be given a free rollaway bed if you're given a king bed room. I have never, ever had a problem at the value resorts and we've stayed there often over the years for short getaways. The roll in showers are quite spacious with an adjustable hand held/wallmount adustable shower head.---Kathy

If the fully accessible room has a king bed, don't be surprised if you get a connecting room also at no extra charge.

That is what happened to us 2 years ago. We got a comp room for the 11 nights we were there:cool1: There were 4 of us booked inc. my handicapped mom and we requested the roll in shower room.
I just booked ASMu for my mom 2 days ago for the night before and after our townhouse rental check in and they said her room has 2 double beds and a roll in shower. I was also under the impression that they were all king rooms:confused: I am going to call tonight and double check to make sure.

I had this happen to me, so I asked the TA to make sure that a roll away bed was in the room...Well, I got there and was told I had to pay $16 per night for the roll away, I felt that was unreasonable and should not have been a cost attached. If there were no need for the accessable room we would have two double beds,

We ended up in a non accessable room, sat on the side of the tub for shower and no bars or seat height for toilet,

I would make sure there is a real clear understanding what is in the reservation for you not to have surprises.
I do not think it is unreasonable to have a cot placed in an accessable room with no charge. Our daughter was 12 that trip a few weeks ago.

I don't think it's unreasonable to have been given the cot for free either. If there are three people in the room, then a bed needs to be provided for each guest.

For those of you who have been given a comp room or are aware of these special circumstances, I'll say it again...PLEASE do NOT post this information on the board!!!!!!!! Either PM the person who asked or say "your needs will be provided for with the appropriate number of beds for each guest in your party". I have heard over and over again from TA's who say that people who are not disabled have found this information and use it to secure an accessible room just for the purpose of the comp room and more space for their family who does not have a need at all. This reduces the amount of accessible rooms available for those of us who cannot travel without one and causes fraud. This kind of fraud is a huge problem on cruise ships- people reserving the few accessible rooms available because they are larger. You'll read on cruisecritic boards, for instance of people bragging that they booked early to snag the "big room with the big balcony" that's labelled accessible even though they are able-bodied. I end my rant. And to the OP, yes, your needs will be met. With three people though you may be given an extra cot at no charge.---Kathy

Called Disneyworld yesterday to double check handicapped room accomidations. Made sure all my requests were on there and they said that they were. Hope everything is good.
