I can't seem to find maps that indicate where handicap parking is at each of the parks, at boardwalk area and downtown disney. Do you still take a tram or is it within walking distance? Just trying to get an idea how it works and how much time to reserve for getting into the parks. Thanks!

There are no trams from the handicap parking areas. At AK, DHS, and Epcot, the walk is not that bad. The walk from the TTC is quite long in my opinion. My sister would not be able to make the walk, if she had not been in a scooter, she would have had trouble. I will say that I have gotten to DHS a couple of times and HA parking was filled. At DTD, normally the HA parking is scattered just like any other shopping complex. With the current construction, I am not sure of the impact on HA parking. I am not sure of HA parking at Boardwalk as the first time I parked there was without a HA person in the vehicle and it was a long walk. Since then, I just automatically valet.

At the Boardwalk or any of the other Deluxe resorts, Valet Parking is complimentary for those with Handicap placards.

So going to the boardwalk area, we would park at one of the resorts (Boardwalk or Yacht Club) and do valet parking? Is it ok to unload the wheelchair right there? Sometimes it takes us a while to get the chair and medical equipment out.

Yes, it's okay to unload equipment before the valet takes your car. Please note that not having to pay for this service doesn't negate tipping.

Absolutely, we would tip for this service and it is a good reminder.

Handicapped parking for MK is not convenient at all. TTC is a difficult option, for those of us pushing another adult in a manual WC. Riding a tram is impossible for me and my son. Pushing him up a ramp to the monorail is also pretty hard.

We use the Disney buses, but that is also very difficult, I have to somehow get my son onto the bus (he can walk), and fold up his heavy chair and get that on as well. Other guests sometimes help me when they see me struggle (thanks other guests!!)

Most parks we drive to, which is easier, which only leaves MK as a problem. When we stay at BLT, it is SO much easier! It is the best resort for us, when I can book it.

as pp have said MK is the hardest park to drive and park in handicapped parking. it is a long walk to either boat or monorail and no tram to ride. that is the one park that I would use Disney transportation as that gets you right to the gate area.

We are staying in property so it sounds like MK would be the one place to take a bus. My only concern is that my daughter has low endurance and when she has a melt down our van and her familiar car seat away from people would be more comfortable for us than this happening on a bus with others around. We will have a couple of days to see how she does before our MK day.

if meltdown is a worry esp at end of night, at MK you will have to ride with crowd either the monorail or the boat to get to car parking including handicapped and when you get to parking there is the long walk back to car no tram. not going to avoid crowd either way

Betty, I don't think we will stay very late at any park. 3pm might be the latest and then we need to go back and rest.
