handicap info needed

I have a friend who will be leaving in 3 weeks for her first cruise. She would love to be able to email and talk with someone with her questions. She has an electric wheelchair, but can walk short distances on her own.

Yes I agree. Many folk travel with disabled relatives and friends, and they are the best people to answer any queries regarding the cruise. Disney are well equiped to deal with any form of disability, and so are most of the CM's. There were many wheelchair travellers on our cruise - including children - and Im sure you will find scores of guests on these boards who can help out. Nat

I traveled with my mom on a cruise last year (and will be doing it again this year). She's a stroke patient in a manual wheelchair. Let us know what kind of questions she has, and we'll see if we can help.

Me too, I cruised with my Mom the last 2 years on DCL and will again this fall. My Mom also had a stroke at the young age of 56 and is disabled and unable to use her right side. The first cruise we used a manual wheelchair and by the time we cruised last fall she had finally received her scooter and we rented a collapsible wheelchair.

I have to say Disney does a good job with the disabled compared to many.

The most important thing I would say is to make sure she has her DCL Medical Form complete and faxed to the DCL Medical Coordinator prior to sailing. The form can be obtained from DCL directly if you booked with them or via the TA she used.
