I know there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the abuse of handicap privileges at standby entrances for rides, however, I was wondering if anyone knew Disney's current policy. We are planning to bring my inlaws on our next trip, and my FIL is a double amputee. He does use prosthetics, but standing for lengths of 30 minutes plus gets tough. I don't want my inlaws to spend the money on park tickets if my FIL isn't going to get to enjoy any of the rides with his grandkids. Any suggestions or hints/tips for maximizing park time for the physically challenged?

i believe the only ride i went on was spaceship earth where a handicap could go faster. On Buzz Lightyear's, they had us put the wheelchair in a siding and pick it up after. I'm unsure about the new policy, but if they see the prosthetics and you tell them about the 30 minute thing, im sure youll be fine.

You may want to check out the disABILITIES board futher down. They have a lot of information on the DAS and they would be able to answer any specific questions that you might have.

Yes, check out the disABILITIES board here. Lots of info there. But Disney's standard response for mobility/stamina issue is to use a wheelchair or ECV.
