I've had my D&B Disneyland purse for about a year and still love it. Now I'm spoiled. How nice to have a purse where the straps don't unravel when the fake leather paint peels off! :rotfl2: I'm thinking I need another purse for winter but can't bring myself to buy another cheap $30 purse. Aside from the HM purse which I doubt I will get the chance to buy, none of the other Disney Dooneys seem to come in a style I like. I've tried a bunch on at DLR and they just aren't right for me. (My requirements are: big enough to carry my Kindle and must have a zipper top) And I don't like the Vera style bags.

So, now I'm thinking to just look for a good quality purse but it doesn't have to be Disney. Wondering if any of you ladies out there have any suggestions. What brands are good quality? Where should I look?

for mid-priced bags I like Fossil. I have a few Coach leather bags that are nice, too (not the signature ones with the C's all over them). Harvey's seatbelt bags also hold up well.

Thank you, I'll check those. I've never been fond of having the letter C (or G, for that matter) all over my handbag. If they have some that don't have that I'd be interested. I want something nice that will hold up for several years at least.

The non-Disney Dooneys are very nice -- you can check online or in their mall stores. Also, there is an outlet specific line. The non-Disney D&Bs come in more styles and colors. Do you like lesportsac bags? They still have the IASW bags and there are many, many other color and style choices. Coach does make bags that don't have the logo in the pattern. I have a nice one in plain, red leather -- always get compliments on it. The Harveys bags are sturdy and cute, but for me they are a bit heavy, even when empty.

I have the Le Sportsac IASW large tote bag. That is my bag I take to work everyday. I like them for tote bags but not really for my main purse.

I get the D&B emails and have seen some nice styles and also the outline versions. But wondering if the outlet versions are as good as quality, so not so sure about those.

I really like trying them on. It is so hard to tell how long the straps are and how it would feel from a picture.

A plain leather Coach one sounds nice. I'll have to look at those. (I must say, I love the smell of the leather on my Disney Dooney. Much better than the dead rat smell some of the cheap purses have.

I know you said you can't go back to a cheap bag, but... I bought this bag in July, and it still looks brand new, despite being used daily since July. No rubs, no runs, no signs of wear! It's been amazing! I've had a lot of compliments on it. Funny enough, even my family law attorney noticed it and mentioned how much she liked it--and she's not one that would normally notice such things. (On a side note, it started an entertaining conversation where I found out she used to be a CM at DLR many, many years ago.) At any rate, it was cheap, but it's held up great, I can fit my kindle (and my iasw make-up bag), and anything else I need in it. On the website, the colors look really freaky bright and annoying, but, in real life they are muted peaches/blues with a little bit of black and red, and it really looks nice together.

From what I've seen, the outlet D&B bags are sturdy and good quality, just not as fine a quality as the main store bags. Does that make sense? It can be worth it to wait for a sale (Cyber Monday or Black Friday??) and an email coupon to get a top notch D&B at a good price. Those bags last forever if you care for them. I have one from over 20 years ago that is still going strong. Agree with you about trying them on, if possible. If you need to add holes to the strap, a good shoe repair shop should be able to help you.

Yes, that makes sense. Good idea to watch for a good sale!
