I made our family matching shirts from a link I found somewhere on the DIS. They are Mickey shape head with Star Wars inside of the head if that makes sense.

My question is: Has anyone had a problem wearing a hand made shirt with the Mickey Head at the parks or resorts? You know, because the head is lisecsensed(sp) or something.

We wore shirts this past Sept. that I made and noone said anything to us except to compliment us.

Oh my. I'm trying to picture a family being rousted at the gate for wearing unofficial Mickeywear. :rotfl2:

Seriously, I can't imagine anyone will even give it a thought.

No, we wear customized Disney clothes all the time to WDW and have gotten nothing but compliments. Actually several CM's have asked me to make things for their kids!

I think it's only a problem if you try to sell them because then Disney isn't getting the money for them, but I'm not positive.

if you go to the Disney website you can make your own customized t shirts.... and BTW they look almost as the one that I had made at home;)

that said the only problem I had was tourists (usually from another countries) that came to us all the time to find out where they could purchase the t shirts , we were mob one time (2006) by some Japanese tourists and the funny thing was trying to communicate with them ....we got tired of screaming :rotfl:....homemade(insert japanese) :rotfl: ....computer (insert japanesse).:rotfl:..printer(insert japanesse).:rotfl:..iron on paper (insert japanese):rotfl:....homemade ...computer...printer....... Oh...OK , Thank you , thank you... we see you later....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

but the cast members only made big deals in a good funny way...we always do t-shirts , it's always a fun part of our vacations :yay::yay:

It is only an issue if you a) try to sell them or b) have something inappropriate and lewd on them

Five of us (ME, DH, DD, DS, & DM) wore matching shirts every day of our trip last year. That was around 50 custom-DISigned shirts & never once had a problem. Actually, we rec'd WAY more neat CM attention than any other trip! It was awesome at the Block Party Bash when the Army men & others yelled over the microphones "There's the Incredible Family" or "Hey Incredible Mimi" etc.... I have some of it on video & it's priceless! It would have never happened if we hadn't had our customized Incredible shirts on! ;)

We have 18 people going on our trip next December (ages 18 months to 60 years). I'd love us to have matching shirts. How did you make them? (did you go through a custom t-shirt place or did you make them yourself). I am wondering if the t-shirt makers will use a Disney image I provide since there might be a license problem.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

We wore the Mickey tie dye shirts and we only got complimented and asked how to do it by CM's. And we won a dream that day! (fast passes!:cool1:) I think it was just a coincidence but the kids call them the good luck shirts.

you can make them and wear them for yourself and your family ..
you just can't sell them

So, if it is a problem to sell them.... how can people sell all the custom made Disney clothing on ebay?

How do half the people sell the stuff they do on ebay? Techinically the Disney characters and logos are license protected so they are illegal to sell them. If no one complains ,no one is wiser. Not agreeing with it, but lots of people sell all sorts of stuff on ebay that is questionable.

if you go out to the main board listings, all the way way way down at the bottom is a forum called creative Disigns. There are TONS of disigners down there that do custom work and you just save it to your computer and print on transfer paper and do the shirts yourself. There are not many places that will make the shirts for you do to license issues.

We did custom shirts for our Dec trip and were stopped constantly by CM's, managers, and other guests wanting to know where we got our shirts.

One of the guys in the disigns forum makes these amazing star wars disigns that we got tons of compliments on and everyone wanted to know which store at hollywood studios sold them! LOL

It all depends on how it is done. If you buy material with Disney characters printed on it and you make it into a piece of clothing, you can sell it. Disney was paid for the use of their character when the material was purchased.

If you create a Disney character yourself and try to sell it, you could get in trouble. You cannot create Disney licensed characters for resale without Disney's permission.
