We purchased disney cases for our chilrdren from the Disney store. The character ones with the handle that extends.
Has anyone had problems using them as hand luggage???
Asked at a store in Manchester airport today and one of the staff said they OK but the other said not.
Disney store said OK as hand luggage. (fine but Disney doesnt fly you to Florida)
Mytravel just said needs to weigh less than 5kgs and must fit in the overhead locker but couldn't give measurements.
Please advise.

MYT are more strict on weight than dimensions on my trip in May. My laptop & bits were 6.5kg in a pilot case but they made me put all the cables/power pack in my hold luggage.

Their reasoning was that if during the flight an item of hand baggage falls out and hits you on the head, their risk assessment only covers them up to 5kg. Anything more is more serious than a headache!

Size only seems to matter to them if they run out of overhead space whick is more often than not on the return journey.

Same here, we saw kids with Disney cases flying from Manchester in March. They are sticklers for the baggage weight, as said.

Flying with European Aviation on 9th August - just read all the info. that came with the flight tickets. Apparently our 20 kg luggage INCLUDES hand luggage. Does that mean all our hand luggage gets weighed in at the same time as our suitcases? What happens if some of your party don't come to the booking in desk with you with their hand luggage? Anyone help please?

Having just got back from Orlando (flew direct from Prestwick to Sanford with MyTravel and return) - they were being strict on the way back - they checked all details for our luggage and calculated the difference - we were well over - they also weighed our hand luggage - I had a backpack that had my video camera in and also a separate bag to carefully carry home my lovely new Villains globe!

We got away with it all - but I reckon the 6 hour delay they told us about when we checked in meant they went easy on us!!!

As I said, they did check the hand luggage but they did not mark it in any way to say it had been - strange.

Nick
