We stayed there in 2009. Paid $55/night booked directly through the hotel. It was very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was hot, and the water pressure was good. Fridge and microwave were nice. The breakfast had some variety of sausage/bacon, eggs, pastry/toast, fruits, cereal, tea, coffee, and possibly breakfast potatoes and oatmeal (I can't remember exactly). It wasn't the best food ever, but it was tasty, hearty, and much more than a continental breakfast. I don't know anything about the pool area. We never visited it.
The only thing that stopped us from staying there on our return trips was the fact that the price had gone up to almost $80/night. We instead stayed at the Clarion LBV right next door for $49/night. It wasn't quite as nice as the Hampton and didn't have breakfast, but it was perfectly fine. (The price at the Clarion has also gone up in the last couple of years.)
We really love this Palm Parkway location. You take a left out of the hotel, cross over a main road, and you are on the "Disney Roads." (Passing a McDonalds on the way for a quick breakfast or coffee.) If you take a right out of the hotel, you come onto a
Walmart several miles down the road. For us, it is super quick and easy to get anywhere on property from here. (Ok, maybe not "super quick" to get to the Animal Kingdom side of the property, but that is simply because it is on the complete opposite side.)
