Hamilton on Disney Plus this Friday....who's excited!!??

Wow. So impressive. And entertaining. I laughed, I cried. Actually kind of glad I saw it at home instead of sobbing in the theater! 😜 We will watch it again for sure in a little bit. Unfortunately Animal Crossing planned their summer update for today as well! 😂 Gotta go play with the kids.

SAME!!

With the weather making outdoor fun and activities a very unpleasant prospect I went ahead and signed up for Disney + so we can celebrate by watching Hamilton tomorrow night. We're looking forward to it.

Seeing firsthand the amount of content offered I think we'll wind up spending several of these extreme heat days watching everything we want to see within the month before I cancel.

Nice cabanafrau! We signed up for a year of Disney + when they announced Hamilton, and have been pleasantly surprised with the content on the channel. It's a deal.

I've seen Hamilton three times....was definitely Hamil-obcessed in the summer of 2017 when we listened to the soundtrack. We saw it live on BW twice before the ultimate...seeing it with Lin starring in Puerto Rico to raise money for Hurricane Maria relief in January of 2019. Memory of a lifetime. We lucked out and got second row seats....albeit not center. But I took this pic at the encore....when Lin pulled the Puerto Rico flag from inside his jacket. I thought the roof would cave in.

I’ve seen numerous broadway shows. Not this one but I watched it today. It’s amazing. IMO the king of England steals the show.

King George III = Jonathon Groff = voice of Kristoff in Frozen

I watched it this morning and really enjoyed seeing the original cast. I saw the live show in San Francisco three times and as much I did like the original cast, seeing any cast in person is just so much better. You can feel the performers' energy when it's live and that is such a huge part of what makes it so great.

We're waiting for a friend to arrive then we're watching it together. My husband and I saw it in NYC in previews in 2016 and returned with the kids two years later so I think it's safe to say we're big fans.

Anyone want to help me with food ideas for tonight? So far I've got:
Burr-gers
A dot Ham wraps
Washington on your side salad
World turned upside down cake
Guns and chips

Any others?

How did you get the PR tickets?

Watched it with my daughter and husband. Both my daughters are big fans and very familiar with all the songs - for Christmas we got them tickets for the touring show in Toronto, that they were supposed to see at Easter :-( We still have the tickets so that they have dibs when it gets rescheduled someday.....

I enjoyed it very much - now I have to read up on the history behind it!

Just got done watching it. Enjoyable, but not outstanding. We finished watching <10 minutes ago and there's not a song that really "stuck" with me. Les Mis is still probably my top show.

We just finished it enjoyed it (and both DH and I loathe musicals). My takeaway was the Alexander Hamilton was kind of a turd of a human though. Oh and I never knew what the cause of the duel between Burr and Hamilton was until now. yeesh...people were sensitive then eh? LOL

We also watched with the subtitles turned on which helped. Lafayette/Jefferson stole the show!

I don’t know if you ever watch Drunk History, but Lin’s episode about the Reynolds Pamphlet is hilarious and eye opening!

We bought them online....we had two laptops going....and we lucked out and got a short wait in the virtual queue. We went into it like...if we get tickets, we get them....and we lucked out. Originally they were going to have it at the University of San Juan, which is Lin's father's alma mater. They spent over a million dollars retrofitting the theater there for the show, but only a few weeks out they had a problem. I believe that there were going to be protests by students because the university was underfunded, and the producers didn't want the headache. Originally, our seats were orchestra, row R. Then they moved it and we were told that we'd get "comparable seats". When we showed up, we ended up in the second row.

It was incredible seeing it there with Lin. 25% of the audience received $10 tickets...and you had to be a resident of the island. It was an incredible crowd....electric. When Lin walks out and sings...."Alexander Hamilton".....that's as far as he got, and the whole crowd jumped to their feet to give him a standing ovation. Incredible. Also...when he sings "Hurricane"....you could hear a pin drop, and then another standing ovation. Just an amazing experience. We'd never been to Puerto Rico....loved it. Amazing place.
