Last month I got to try Paradiso 37 - my first sit-down meal in Disney World, ever. For those of you that don't want to read further I will save you some time: It was ok.

I went on a Thursday evening around 5 p.m. and it was all but empty inside. It could have been because of the torrential downpour of rain that lasted about an hour. I was brave and ran through the rain and was literally dripping from head to toe when I walked in. I asked the lady out front if there was a seat and she told me I could sit at the bar. I couldn't see inside, so I didn't realize that every table but 1 was empty, or else I would have asked for one.

So anyway I sat at the bar and it was me and 2 other guys, plus the one table that was full. The bartender/server came right over to me and welcomed me. I was ready to really start vacation so I ordered a glass of Riesling, which I must say tasted really good and was very reasonably priced.

I had heard about Paradiso 37 on the podcast and checked out the menu before my trip, so I knew I wanted to try a burger. I ordered a plain hamburger, well done, with french fries. The bartender put my order right in and said my food would be ready soon. I wasn't expecting a long wait since the restaurant was empty and a burger isn't complicated.

I was wrong. I waited about 30 minutes for my food. Good thing I brought a book with me to kill the time. In fact, I waited so long I had my glass of wine almost gone by the time it got there and was pretty tipsy. (I'm not a drinker and I was drinking on an empty stomach.) When my food came I was disappointed by the size of the burger. It was slightly smaller than what you would get at Friday's or Applebees. It was also kind of dry and the there wasn't a lot of flavor. On the other hand, the fries were fantastic! My only complaint was that there weren't more of them. That darn cone is deceiving!

My server was pleasant enough, and she was observant enough to see that I needed water to counteract the wine without me having to ask. I was a little disappointed that she didn't make more of an effort to interact with me, since I was obviously alone. I heard her tell someone it was her last week, so maybe she just didn't care anymore.

Overall, I think Paradiso 37 is pretty good. It is a little pricey for the portion sizes, but not totally unreasonable. I would try something besides the burger next time, but would definitely get the fries. The alcohol prices were totally in line with what you would pay at a bar at home, so I think it is a good place to hang out and relax.

Thta's about how I saw the place as well-we had two pretty good lunches there. Portion sizes are rather small, the bar is great. The pork "sliders" we had were very good. Didn't try the hamburger or the hotdog.
Paridiso's location in the "dead zone" at PI may account for some of the lack of business(?)

It's interesting how everyone's experiences can be so different. DD and I had dinner here about a week or so ago and we really enjoyed it! The only complaint I have is that when we first sat the music was REALLY loud. We'd shout at each other and still couldn't hear each other but it eventually was lowered (maybe someone complained?)

Anyway we were actually in and out of here in under an hour and we ordered an appetizer. We sat right away. Our server was very good and informative.

We started with the Mexican dipping trio which had a delicious guacamole, chili con carne and queso fundido. I had a margarita which was very good.

DD had the chicken quesadilla which she absolutely loved (I tasted it and it was very yummy) and I had the Prickly Pear Shrimp salad which was also excellent. It only came with 3 shrimp but they were probably the hugest shrimp I've seen in a long time!

Our appetizer came out within 5 minutes of ordering and our dinner came out maybe 10 minutes later, if anything I felt we were a bit rushed so we had the opposite situation. We also seemed to have sat at a good time as it wasn't really busy yet, but within 15 minutes many tables were filled up so not sure how long it would have taken then.

We thought this was one of the best meals of our trip and I will soon post reviews and photos on my review website so stay tuned. We'll definitely be back there as this has filled our WPC spot. We used to love WPC, but the service has gotten so bad we are glad to have found a new place to go. I just hope your situation was a "fluke" as I'd love to dine here again our next trip.:thumbsup2

Paridiso has become our lunch spot as well---
Not much music playing at lunch (for which I was glad) so maybe they crank it up for dinner???

It seems they have a guy who plays the guitar and sings at night and he's actually pretty good. It was when he went on break (just when we sat) that the music was really loud...;), but once he came back from his break the volume was at a much more "relaxing" level.
