Last month I got to try Paradiso 37 - my first sit-down meal in Disney World, ever. For those of you that don't want to read further I will save you some time: It was ok.
I went on a Thursday evening around 5 p.m. and it was all but empty inside. It could have been because of the torrential downpour of rain that lasted about an hour. I was brave and ran through the rain and was literally dripping from head to toe when I walked in. I asked the lady out front if there was a seat and she told me I could sit at the bar. I couldn't see inside, so I didn't realize that every table but 1 was empty, or else I would have asked for one.
So anyway I sat at the bar and it was me and 2 other guys, plus the one table that was full. The bartender/server came right over to me and welcomed me. I was ready to really start vacation so I ordered a glass of Riesling, which I must say tasted really good and was very reasonably priced.
I had heard about Paradiso 37 on the podcast and checked out the menu before my trip, so I knew I wanted to try a burger. I ordered a plain hamburger, well done, with french fries. The bartender put my order right in and said my food would be ready soon. I wasn't expecting a long wait since the restaurant was empty and a burger isn't complicated.
I was wrong. I waited about 30 minutes for my food. Good thing I brought a book with me to kill the time. In fact, I waited so long I had my glass of wine almost gone by the time it got there and was pretty tipsy. (I'm not a drinker and I was drinking on an empty stomach.) When my food came I was disappointed by the size of the burger. It was slightly smaller than what you would get at Friday's or Applebees. It was also kind of dry and the there wasn't a lot of flavor. On the other hand, the fries were fantastic! My only complaint was that there weren't more of them. That darn cone is deceiving!
My server was pleasant enough, and she was observant enough to see that I needed water to counteract the wine without me having to ask. I was a little disappointed that she didn't make more of an effort to interact with me, since I was obviously alone. I heard her tell someone it was her last week, so maybe she just didn't care anymore.
Overall, I think Paradiso 37 is pretty good. It is a little pricey for the portion sizes, but not totally unreasonable. I would try something besides the burger next time, but would definitely get the fries. The alcohol prices were totally in line with what you would pay at a bar at home, so I think it is a good place to hang out and relax.
