How big a ham should I buy if I need to feed 15 people? I would like to have some leftover too.

Both Honeybaked and Boston Market quoted us an 8 pound ham for 16 people yesterday.

The rule of thumb for catering is 1/2 pound per person.

But I'd say it would totally depend. It would depend on whether or not you're having any other meats, how much other food you're having, and if a few of your guests have rather large appetites.

You usually count on 1/2 lb of meat per person. If you have some really big eaters or want lots of leftovers I'd add a few lbs on to that. Also if you're getting a bone in I'd order slightly over as well.

We aren't having any other meat, but we are having a LOT of side dishes and appetizers before dinner. There will only be one or two big eaters. I do want lots of leftovers.
