We are planning a trip next September. Our first park day is Monday 9/10/18. Anyone have any guesses as to when Halloweentime will officially start? Seems like it was later this year... I know most decorations would probably be going up by our first day, just wish i knew for sure when the official start will be. We will do a 5 day park hopper and will be celebrating our youngest daughter's 18th birthday! ✨ Thanks for any input!

The week you're talking about was fondly referred to on here as 'Black Hole Week' - there is a thread on it a few pages back. Halloween started a week later than the recent norm, ride closures (some due to Halloween overlay like Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion), some restaurant closures, early park closures. People reported that the parks were really busy too.
If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that Halloween will start on Friday the 14th next year - but really, it is complete speculation and nothing official will be likely to be announced before next July.
There is also some thoughts that more Halloween 'stuff' will be moved over to DCA next year - possibly even the MHP parties. (The MHP's started earlier this year on Wednesday 20th September too). It is thought they will do that in preparation to try and draw some of the crowds away from Disneyland once the new Star Wars:Galaxy's Edge opens in 2019.
It really is just a guessing game at the moment though.
You did see a few 'decorations' start to appear in the days leading up to Friday the 15th September this year - the official start of Halloween for 2017 - but the bulk of it was officially ready for opening on the 15th.
If you are going then you would just have to be prepared that some rides may be closed and who knows if all the issues that went on that week this year will be repeated next year.

Thanks for the info! I would like to go a bit later, however our daughter in law is in nursing school so we are scheduling our trip around her college start date. In 2012 we went around Columbus Day. Everything was in full swing, but man was it busy! Awesome time though. I love Haloweentime at Disneyland! I always struggle though with choosing between Halloween and Christmas, but we did Christmas in 2014, so I feel like it's Halloween time this time!

I know a lot of people planned their trips at the same time this year to experience halloween time and were really disappointed that they missed it (those who left before 9/15). It had started earlier last year. I think there's a chance you might miss Halloween time next year if they decide to start it later than expected.
