Halloween Villages Lemax or Dept. 56

Hi all, just wondering if anyone out there collects and does a halloween village. I was given a few items of Dept. 56 North Pole Collection Christmas village items this past year but it was after Christmas so I haven't put them up yet, but when I saw the Lemax Spooky town ones at Michael's I loved them. I bought three from Michael's when they had them on sale and I purchased one also from e-bay.

I am about to start setting up a display but I don't really know how to go about it, any tips or ideas or pics of your displays- Christmas or Halloween.

I do collect the Spooky Town Halloween piece but, in all honesty, I don't do a great job of displaying them! I think they are so funny and love the lights and noises but I just don't have a good place to show then off. I usually end up spreading them out along my fireplace hearth and on a sofa table behind the couch. This works okay but doesn't do justice to them. They look kind of 'linear' and not very 'spooky!'

I see your from N Fl have you been buying out all the villages from Michaels? They are out of everything here, ugh!

I am excited to put the stuff I have up but I just don't know how to go about arranging them.

I really want Grisley's Greenhouse but they are out , I am waiting to see if they get any more and if there are any more sales on them, they are 40% this week.

I have the Dept 56 North Pole village I have about 50 houses and tons of accessories. What a HUGH ordeal it is to put up. Takes days to do. I have mountains and tons of snow. I think I'm going to skip this year and just place houses around here and there. I like doing that for a change as well.

I have a limited number of Department 56 Halloween and Christmas pieces.

For Halloween, I have a big haunted house and several smaller sets - trick or treaters, raking the leaves with dad, carving a pumpkin at the picnic table, etc. I have a set of pumpkins and fencing, as well as the little tiny leaves I scatter around. Every year I find one or two of them on the floor somewhere else in my house!

I limit myself to what will fit on the entrance hall table or I would go wild. My haunted house has sound so I can make it shriek, moan, scream, rattle chains, etc. It's fun.

I have the North Pole series but stopped after buying the houses that spelled out North Pole and two or three others. I also have several sets of the smaller accessories. I set it up on an L-shaped bar in my sunroom. Sometimes I take the time to put all the lighting elements in, but most years I skip that. My younger daughter loves to help me do it. This year I am having a big Christmas party and will need to use the bar so we may not put them out - I don't really have any other place unless I store all my books and put them on bookshelves in my den. We'll see.

I love the Department 56 stuff and it's a fun part of our Halloween and Christmas traditions!

We also collect the Lemax Spooky Town pieces ... like crazymama, we don't have the space to display all of our pieces, so they're scattered throughout the house during Halloween season. We haven't started on the Christmas pieces ... we just don't have room to store them
