OK - some of you may recall a post from last week where we were talking about going in October with Denise's family. To cut a long story short they are not going now so we have a decision to make - do we still go in October or do we go in July and take advantage of the 15th Anniversary clebrations. Those are the two options of dates for us.

We had planned to go on a road trip in July which would see us pack our stuff into the car and drive to Scotland stopping in places like Nottingham, Liverpool, York and Newcastle on the way (maybe even a stop-off at Prestatyn too) as neither of us have spent much time in 'the North' and have never been to Scotland. If we go to DLRP in July the Scotland trip would have to be in October which would mean a good possibility of bad weather, or at least not as good as July.

I guess it boils down to how good the 15th Anniversary celebrations are going to be and if they are better than Halloween season in DLRP plus good weather (maybe, this is the UK after all) for our Scotland road trip. From what I can see we will only be missing a Parade and some Castle decorations which doesn't seem a great deal to us. The rest of th stuff planned for 2007 appear to be stuff that will stay.

Are we missing some stuff or are we doing the right thing by going to DLRP in October and doing the road trip in July?

thanks for any advice

Steve and Denise

I think the celebrations events run from April 07 to end of March 2008 and not just a summer event so they would be stuff on in October? I am not 100%sure though.

The 15th Anniversary stuff does go until April next year, I just assumed the Halloween Parade would take the place of the new parade during the Halloween Season.

Should have mentioned in the first post that both Denise and I were mega impressed with Halloween Season last year so that's a big attraction for us and we were doubting whether the 15th Anniversary stuff would be anywhere near as good, and that's before taking the Scotland road trip into consideration.

This one is a tough call. Mind you October up north might not be as poor weather as you think. We had better days during the October holidays than London :)

But I digress. For me the lure of Halloween would be to great, so my vote would be for October :goodvibes

I would assume that the new parade will probably be one of the things staying after the celebration as I think it is meant to replace the present parade long term. Thats just my thoughts though.

Though I would go at Halloween as that seems to be what you want most.:)

I'm beginning to wonder if Halloween season will even be particularly Halloweeney - or will the 15th celebrations take it over. But as you really liked Halloween I would book for that time of year anyway and you'll either get to enjoy all the Halloween stuff again, or the 15th Anniversary stuff, or a mixture of both!! And you'll get to do your road trip too :)

Was that any help?!! :teeth:

I can understand why you're so keen, we loved the Halloween season too - there's just so much going on then and the themimg is superb. When they introduced Stitch last year I'm sure someone mentioned it was in preparation for this year's Halloween events and a change.

I would do your road trip to Scotland in the summer. The forecasters have said we are in for a better summer than last. I live in the north east of Scotland and it is beautiful if the weather is with you and horrible when it is not

You will get the best of Halloween and 15th celebrations in October.

Hope this helps:thumbsup2

The latest brochure says Halloween season will be Pumpkin Men, Pink Witches and Stitch again, as well as Halloweenland. I'd imagine the parade would be the Halloween parade as it usually takes the place of the usual daytime parade during that period.

I think we'll go in October, Halloween season is the best! Thanks for all the input people.

Hi Steve
Firstly I am getting very excited as you have mentioned Prestatyn on your road trip itinerary!!!!!!
Secondly, I suppose there isn't much point asking my advice on the best time of year to visit...as Halloween is by far my favourite season, but I loved the summer trip last year aswell (I suppose it's not possible to do both!).
I am sure the 15th Parade would be changed into the Halloween Parade as per normal, but possibly they may use the new floats in some way (as in the halloween parade just tends to be the normal parade with added halloween stuff onto the floats and halloween theming anyway). Perhaps if you go at the changeover point..ie when the Halloween season starts, then you would see both!!!! Now I am waffling!!!!!
Now let me know about the Prestatyn plans...I need to start tidying the house!!:woohoo:

I was going to say the same as the others. Go to DLRP for Halloween and do your road trip in July ~ the best of both worlds!!

I am under the impression that the Castle will still be dressed during Halloween and the Candles Ceremony will still take place. I think the only difference will be the parade.

I'd forgotten that the Halloween Parade is the usual parade but with Halloween extras so we get the best of both worlds!

Be great if the new lighting ceremony and Castle decorations are up too. I'm getting excited already and we havent booked anything, and can't till April because of Denise's work.

No decision on whether the Disney's Villains Parade will return in 2007 or not has yet been made.

All the floats are being kept in storage but it is likely that the Once Upon A Dream parade will run over the whole Halloween season, with perhaps a shortened version of the Villains Parade or a larger "La Cavalcade" instead of the trademark Disney Villains Parade.

The Candlelight Ceremony is planned for up to the end of September, but may be extended if it is popular.

Well, this would be getting the best of both worlds!! :yay:

Oh I do hope so.

Thank you Tom. :goodvibes
