Just wanted to vent a bit...

This is about our trip to Disney the end of September. Which means that we will have to take the kids out of school! My immediate family (DW, DD, DS) are going but I could not include my daughter from previous marrage. Due to my daughter's struggle in school that her mother wouldn't let her go. She is getting extra help and all. I can understand her reason but do not believe that 4 days out of the whole school year would make that muich of a diff. Maybe she is right but I feel awfully guilty not taking her. She has been with us during vacations but not during Halloween. Again just venting!!!

I am also holding off not telling the kids until we leave.

I am really sorry for your family. I do not have a step child so I am not sure I can relate to it. I would like to ask how old is she and what grade is she in?
I know when our children got older it was much harder taking them out of school.I hope things turn around and her mother changes her mind

She will be going into 4th. She had to stay back in 1st. Her maturity is at the same level as my son who is going to be 5. I know she will also love this trip...

I have a step-son, so I know it can be hard at times. Fortunately my step-sons mother is pretty agreable to what we want to do, but there are many times dh and I and our 3 daughters do things when he cannot be with us and always feel he is left out , or feel like we are doing something wrong without him. Although we feel guilty, this is the way it is, so we just enjoy the times he is with us. We went to Florida last March, and His mother didn't want to take him out of school for the 4 days either, but changed her mind in about 15 minutes, because she knew he would be upset. So hopefully your daughter's mother changes her mind, if she won't you can just tell your daughter , there will be another trip to Disney, and you'll have to make it on a vacation. I'm sorry that you have to feel bad about your daughter, Like I said I know how it is, i've seen my stepson's dissapointed little face many times, because he wants to be with us alot more than he is, even though we are lucky he is with us alot. So good Luck, and hope all works out well, post back if she changes her mind. pixiedust:

Actually she is pretty tough. Her response is that DD has been to DIS enough times that we do not have to pull her out to bring her again. She does not have to go again unless outside of her school.
