Contemplating a 5 day trip at halloween in 2011, do people think it is worth it? I can only get enough days off to do a 5 day trip as I work in a school system, and since our oldest would be 10 (youngest would be turning 2), we thought we should do halloween while our kids still like to dress up and it wouldn't be too bad to miss school for 3 days. Paying for plane tickets to only go for 5 days is a con, but we've never gone for a holiday and thought it might be worth it. since our youngest is turning 2 that Oct first, we thought we'd go that weekend, so we only have to buy a plane ticket one way and going for a birthday would also be a first for us. Since we are going for a week this Feb, a pro would be we would buy AP and the TIW. So to make the decision, I though input on whether going during the Halloween season is cool enough to be worth a trip. I know thanksgiving and Christmas are probably cooler, but thought since they are busier, and would still be just as enjoyable when our kids are older that halloween might be better to do now. Thanks in advance for any input!

In my opinion Halloween is the best time to go. We have been there twice and are planning a trip next year for the same time. If you go around Columbus Day you should be able to squeeze a few extra days out of your trip. October is great because of the lower crowds, cooler weather, and Mickey's Halloween party and the Epcot food and Wine Festival.

:) DH and I have been to Disney during Oct several times. Last year we were there 10/28-11/06. We went to MNSSHP on 10/29 and 10/31. It was very hot on 10/29 and we were miserable. We are used to heat where we live, but it was just very warm. The crowd for 10/29 was worse to us than 10/31. I would definitely do 10/31 again and in fact that is exactly what we are doing next year. This year is a Dec trip. The weather can be very warm to cool. so we always check the weather chanel before packing. We also buy our MNSSHP tickets early in the year--jus to add to the excitment.

Is it worth it? Ohh, absolutely. I think 5 days is perfect. We got great direct flight tickets with SW out of New Orleans last year. Like you we are hoping to get 2-3 trips out of our APs, too. The weekend will be busy at Epcot for F&W, but very doable your other days. I do not remember riding much there the day it was so crowded in Epcot...but then I enjoy watching the people.

Make sure the kids have comfortable costumes that they can remove if needed. DH wore a Charlie Brown zig zag shirt and I got my BIL so sort of Doom geek gamer shirt with "Reaper" on the back from Zazzle.com. We also got him one with some sort of assualt rifle on the front with some sorta comment about killing zombies---while a funny adult shirt, he of course did not wear it to WDW. DH and I wore orange one night and t-shirts On Halloween. We ate at WCC and took the boat over for the party on Halloween. Seeing the Headless Horseman start the parade is worth the trip IMO !!

As you can see below in my signature - we love going in October. This year we will be doing MNSSHP with our DD6 for the first time. We love this time of year, although the last two years have seemed a bit more crowded, but very manageable.

The MK is decorated nicely at the entrance of the park for Halloween. We love the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT (another great reason to go this time of year). We have however experienced some pretty hot weather (90's) at this time of year. Last year was very odd, as there was a cold spell, and our first three days were in the 60's (great for spending a day in the park), and the last three days were in the 80's - so you never know.

I love this time of year at Disney, and we are still trying to figure out as our DD gets older, if we can pull her out of school for a few days. :confused3 I for one will miss going this time of year!

2 years ago we went to WDW for Halloween with our DS/DDiL/3 DGC and it was wonderful. It actually was cool and rainy for some of the time, so not all nice gorgeous fall weather.

We're planning to do it again next year too! We want to stay at the BWV.

We were there 10/1 -10/7/09 and took advantage of the Halloween festivities. They were awesome. I recommend it to all! Make sure you see the parade.
