Hi everyone. I have been reading DIS Boards for several months now, but this is my first post!! I am very excited about my upcoming trip to the WDW Swan. I have stayed at the Yacht and Beach Club many times and absolutely love it, but the Annual Passholder rates at the S/D were just too good. I have a few questions that I hope everyone can help me with.

1. Never having stayed at the Swan (and really only be familiar wtih the YC & the Contemporary), I ham a little apprehensive about the S/D--are they as great as the Disney resorts?

2. We have a king-size lake-view room at the Swan, but we would love a great view and also not be too far from the lobby/elevators (last time we were at the YC, we were so far from the main lobby that it was a 10 minute hike every morning!). Is there a particular view or room area that I should ask for at the Swan?

3. On to the parks... I noticed that the park hours say that Blizzard Beach is closing on the 26th. On another board, I saw November for close date. We are arriving on the 29th and have never been to Blizzard Beach and would really love to go. Does anyone know for sure when it is closing?

4. My husband and I are in our mid-20's and are debating whether we should do MNSSH. We probably wouldn't be in to doing costumes, but since the parks are closing early during our vacation we are looking for some extra ride time and would like to see the parages and decorations. Are there really a lot of rides open during the Halloween party or is it mainly trick-or-treating? Is the Halloween party worth it for us or is it more for kids?

I am sorry thatmy first post is such a long one, but I really appreciate any advice or ideas you all can give me. Thanks so much!! :D

Welcome to the board!!! I can't help you with the swan or BB, but I can say that for us, the Halloween party is a must do!!! This was our first year there and we loved it!! My party ranged in ages from 26-34. Most of the rides are open. And there is alot of trick or treating too. We went to Pirates of the Caribbean first and there was noone in about 4 boats in front of or behind us. We could hoot and holler and sing with the music, it was awesome. We didn't watch the parade (except to see the headless horseman) once he was gone, we went to ride more rides while most people were busy with the parade. I would strongly recommend going!! Here is a pic om my crew.

I've stayed at the Swan several times and it's a great resort! Those Heavenly beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in!! Don't worry about being a long way from an elevator. We had a short inside walk and we were almost at the end of the hall with a lake view. The service there is wonderful and you never hear people outside your room being loud. They have a service plus guarantee so that if you are not happy with anything in your room you just give the front desk a call. Transportation is not far away either.

I'd do the Halloween party if I were you and had the extra money. It's worth being in the parks at night with less crowds. From what I could tell most of the rides were open. I'm sure there will be lots of people there w/o costumes so don't worry about that.

Welcome to the boards and don't worry about long posts! You might also want to check out our Resorts board found HERE for more info on the Swan.
