Halloween Quest PTR~~THE TRIP IS OFFICIALLY OFF!

He's doing great today.....he's a lifeguard & has picked up a ton of shifts. He's trying to earn as much as possible before school starts back up. Thursday was the best day for him to get together & it's payday for us....so it all worked out great!!

Happy Birthday to Derek! Sounds like lunch on thursday will be fun, even if it's not on his actual birthday. We've always enjoyed birthday meals on days that weren't our birthdays. It's special either way. :)

Hope you guys see that check soon so you can go on your trip!

My kids have all learned that if their birthday didn't fall on payday, it would be delayed......lol

I'm getting a bit nervous & stressed since we haven't received anything from the IRS yet. I'm glad I called them 6 wks ago to make sure they had it. At that time, the computer showed it was being worked on. Is it still being worked on??? :headache: So frustrating!!

Are you able to call them again to see where it's at? It would be nice to have that peace of mind.

Last time it took 2 different phone #'s (of course I have no clue where they are) & over an hour to get the little info I got. They told me that their screens will just tell them when it was received & if its being worked on but not much more. We can't go online & look at the "where's my refund" because they won't list it there. I was told 12-16 wks is what they're supposed to tell people. So it's just a waiting game. Lots of families got letters requesting more info or copies of stuff already sent in, but we never got that.....so I was hoping that meant things would go quicker...but I guess not!!

Hope Your son has a great birthday dinner Thursday :goodvibes

Mike had the day off yesterday & we discussed quite a bit about going back to the Paradise Pier Hotel instead of HoJo's for our upcoming trip. The biggest reason we didn't go with this in the first place was the expense. In March, we got to stay for 3 wonderful nights with just the 2 of us. We loved it & kept saying, "oh the kids would love this" or "the kids would love to do that". Since we're a family of 6, this causes a real nightmare when trying to book a motel/hotel in the Anaheim area. Fire codes has restricted most places to 5 maximum in a room. There are suites in other places but the ones with great reviews would make for a very long walk after a day at the park & not convenient for running back for a few minutes. The ones close have reviews all over the place......so we decided to go with HoJo's where we knew what to expect & loved last summer. We had to go with 2 rooms & my biggest concern was getting a guarantee that they would be connecting & not next to each other. After trying to reach Jonathon, the mgr, over the last 2 months by leaving countless voicemails & even a PM here on the DIS (which was one of the ways I had communicated with him for the original Nov. dates)......I have given up!! I can't have my family split in 2 rooms with no door open between us.

Which leads us back to yesterdays discussion. When I was pricing out a stay at the pier, I of course was looking at the Theme Park View. Figured that way, we could catch WoC one night from our room as we're not planning on doing that this trip. The difference in price for 8 nights/6 day PH's at the pier vs HoJo's was almost $2000. I can't justify that much. So Mike said, what about just going with a standard room at the pier. Well that made a huge difference. If no specials are offered, with the standard 10% AP disc., the difference would be between $600-$900. (this of course is all estimates). Would it be worth that much more?? You betcha!! We'd get 3 Magic Mornings!!! They have kid activities, movies showing thru out the day, a fun swimming pool & slide...plus a kiddie wading pool!! If we stayed at HoJo's, I'd have to purchase a 3 day PH just to use the MM on it.

So I believe our decision has been made.......we're gonna switch our ressies to the Paradise Pier Hotel!!! I can't wait to take the kids there!!!!!

Yeah!!! I REALLY Want to stay there again but I can't justify the cost... I would so love to have MM... I think if I stayed onsite I would get 3 of them as well... Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday...

I'd say if I got more shifts it may be a possibility but I am pretty much worked to the max right now....

YAY for PPH!! I have always wanted to stay at the PPH after reading such positive reviews here on the DIS. I am glad you get to share it with the whole family this time :)

It really is special to stay on-site....but I'm concerned that Disney is going to out price the average family if they're not careful. There's been talks about adding more perks & such, to make it a truly resort visit....but let's face it....that wasn't Walt's vision & they're stuck in the middle of Anaheim. No room to make it seem like you're out in the middle of nowhere.

I couldn't afford to take my kids when they were growing up & it was a lot cheaper back then. The only reason we can afford going these days is because we get a nice hefty tax return every year. Once that stops....trips will be far & few.....especially if they keep uping all the prices.

Yay for that Laurie. I think that with kids it is easier to stay onsite. There really is so much more for them to do.

Staying on site when the kids are little is a good thing. When they won't need naps then that is time to save and stay off site. I would rather give up on eating high end restaurants and buying gifts then give up staying near/on site.

The check will be there. Not to scare you but will you still get if the budget is not passed before Tuesday? I am so mad at the people we have elected to represent us with the government. I get the feeling they are doing what "they" want not what we people want. They are acting so playground. Walking out is so 1st grader.

They better not get a pay check in August if SS is not paid. I wonder if they will pay disability if the budget is not passed or is it all of the ss type checks. I just do not understand the reasoning. They could end up cosing us the bond grading and then having interest go up while value of dollor goes down. Wondering how that helps us in the long run. oh, enough of my ranting.

You can go up on the pool deck to watch the fireworks at PP. I would book the two rooms now and then change to an Annual pass rate when that comes available. You will get the connecting rooms for sure as you have children under a certain age and additionally two are disabled. We were guraanteed connecting rooms when we stayed at DLH in May. The reason was Husband is disabled and should I have needed help in middle of night Daughter and Son-in-law would be able to come in room with out me having to disconnect from dialysis to get door hall door open.

The manager of HOJO is a gentleman called humm gonna have to look that up for you. Thought I had put into my address book but can't seem to find it now. Anyway I had an issue with reservation for May where I was guaranteed a room with a roll in roll out shower. * rolling eyes* Once they lost a few of the old employees seems some of the reservations also changed. The general manager said he would make sure we had the handicapped room we needed but I did not feel comfortable as he was going to move other people out of that room and into another handicapped room. I would not allow that to happen. It was not that guests issue that HOJO made a mistake. For some reason there have been so many complaints since the employee change up.

If you are getting to PP late in day. I would stay off site first night then hope they have a room early for you next day. We only had one room ready at DLH -- it was the room with the hospital bed which i figured would be the case as they probably put that in day early. I also think it gives you a better chance to get an upgrade in rooms.

Is the move off the table for now then? I have a good friend that has fibro and he was saying heat is bad for fibro. I guess some how the heat makes body hurt much more. You do not hear of many men having fibro. He only has had for I think 8-10 years. From what I hear about how painful it is I hope I never get. Might be a blessing to not have moved. he said being in our climate is the best. Not to hot not to cold.

I still have to log on and get that donation in. I know at one time Husband needed but is that still the case? Sorry I did not get around to doing until now. Was busy with surgery and a very sick friend. No matter what I am going to get it done today. If kids need to go under their name just let me know as soon as you can. If not via IM on Dis I will check FB after i get back from appt today.

Going to go seek out the other tr I am following.

Oh my going to have to do that when I get home to -- I gotta get out of dallas or going to be late. Yak at ya later

I agree, there are lots of activities as I know we won't be in the park all the time due to the twins. One of us can take the kids to do a fun thing while the other is in the room with the twins.

This whole budget thing is annoying at best.....I love how everyone is blaming the president for the state our country is in......UMMMMM......he walked into that mess....he was not the one that caused it. These elected officials need to grow up & stop worrying about party lines. Taking it out on the general public who depends on government money is outrageous. What did they do to them???

Oh that darned check.....getting irritated now.....just hit the print button & mail it out!!!

We'll get into Anaheim very early afternoon.....so we'll go check in right away. An upgrade would be awesome but I won't expect one. I do plan on calling the mgr at the pier to make sure of a guaranteed connecting room & fill them in our situation....who knows....maybe he'll just put an upgrade into the computer for us.....lol

Jonathon is the HoJo manager & that's who I've been calling......since Loreilee left, things have taken a turn....read about things all the time but I still defend the place as we do love it there.

The move is on hold for a couple reasons: the check.....hard to pursue a job somewhere else when we don't even have the money to send Mike if they want to do an interview. He hasn't been called & offered that at this point either. The other reason is......we love our medical/educational support teams here....would be really hard to walk away from that. We also have a very small social life....something we haven't had in years. Friends are hard to come by & moving away to start over again would be sad. Now saying that.......if Mike got an offer.....and we had the money.....we'd go.

My fibro reacts much better to heat then it does cold. The dampness here also makes me hurt. When we were in Medford.....I felt great in the spring & summer. The only time I hurt was in the winter when it got really cold or snowed.

The donation....yes please put in Mike's name!! Thanx tons for that!!!!!

Praying for your friend.......

Hi Laurie - it is so great that you will get to stay at the paradise pier with the kids. I don't think one hand knows what the other is doing regarding the checks, however my friends due date is now August 15th. She has received notice they have all the correct paperwork and are currently processing it. So fingers crossed you will have received yours before then!

We had to change our dates and shorten our trip cause well life has gotten in the way :headache:. But  we still get to go so I am happy! We will be there Saturday and part of Sunday Oct 1st/2nd so I'm hoping we'll be able to meet up at some point.

As far as postponing birthdays - it happens around here as well. But I am sure your son understands and tomorrow will be very special!

Kris
