First off, this is our first trip to DL. We've been to WDW several times, but never made it out to the west coast before. I'm so excited!

We're planning on attending the Halloween party on Friday, 10/28. I've been looking at the pictures people have posted already from the Halloween party. I know one of the big draws to the party are all the villains. Are the villains out normally during the day as well, or just at the party?

Second, we're not really into all the candy trails. DS is only 4 and doesn't really know that much about candy. I've heard the lines are pretty long for them as well, so I'd rather spend the party time doing other things (parade, fireworks, characters, and rides). What I'm most curious about are the characters. I want to make a special autograph book from Shutterfly with pictures of the characters, but I'm not sure which characters will be meeting at the party. Can someone please tell me which characters are there AND where I can find them?

Thanks for your help!

Congrats on your first trip to DL!

When we went during the start of the Halloween season (Sept 15th), the Villains were out taking pictures with everyone, but when we went for the Halloween Party, they weren't out during the day. However, I can't vouch for the ENTIRE day, as we were only in the park starting 4 PM. Maybe this was to encourage people to go to the Halloween Parties since many of the characters wouldn't be out? Even around 4 PM, we didn't see any characters on Main Street.

Lines do get fairly lengthy for candy trails, but they tend to go by quick. Here's a link to one of my posts with the list of characters to be seen and where.

HOWEVER, please be aware that characters also have lengthy lines, but they don't go by as quick because of character interaction. Good luck and I can't wait to see your own pictures!

We just got home and the Villians were out all day when we were at the park. They have a special photo area set up near IASM. In passing over 4 days we saw:

Lady Tremain
Queen of Hearts
The fox from Pinocchio (his name is escaping me!)
Maleficent
Evil Queen from Snow White
Dr. Facilier
Cruella DeVille

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but we didn't stop to see them. My girls are wary of the villians unfortunately.

Also, during the party the Princess Fantasy Faire was open and I heard the princesses were behind the wall with the villian from their story, but we did NOT go back there, so I cannot confirm this. The lines during the party were VERY long! Jack Skellington also has his own photo station near the Haunted Mansion and characters from Phineas and Ferb were out in the Carnation Plaza for pictures (We saw P & F as well as Agent P).

We just got home from our Newbie Halloween trip. I would encourage you to do some trick-or-treating with your DS. My DD4 and DD2 and nephew (2) LOVED it once they figured out that someone was giving them stuff. The lines were not that long time-wise so it was worth it. We did not wait in any of the character lines though since those seemed long and slow.

If you want character pics and autographs get in line for your favorite early. most waits were 30 to 45 minutes last tuesday. E Z to get candy if you wait till the lines die down, about an hour before fireworks. Long line for Mickey and Minnie, also cap.jack. great time to hit rides after fireworks. Splash Mountain over and over. Big thunder too.

Hehe and if you it the candy lines on your way out they say they HAVE to give out all the candy... Show them an empty bag (or have your kid do it) and they give you massive handfulls that pretty much fill the bag.
