Halloween Party Dates Announced

The dates for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2016 have been officially announced. It looks as though the number of dates is up slightly. There were 25 party dates in 2015 and there are 29 in 2016. No pricing yet, but they have clarified the costume policy and adults will still be allowed to be in costume for the party. Costume weapons will also be allowed, so long as they could not reasonably be mistaken for real weapons.

What really strikes me, though, is that we're now all the way back to before Labor Day starting the party! In 2015, the first party date was September 15th. Now, in 2016, the first party will be on September 2nd. Starting the Halloween party a full two months before Halloween seems a bit absurd to me, and feels like another desperate attempt to get the dollars.

This is really messing with my plans! I was going to leave on the 2nd. Is there a chance the Sept 2nd date is a mistake? If not I will be extending my vacation by a day!!

It will interesting to see how much the ticket prices increase over last year. Many of the Halloween parties sold out last year, even the ones that were scheduled in mid-September.

Too bad Halloween and Christmas are "so close" to each other, if Halloween was in August, they could start the Halloween parties in May and the Christmas parties in September.

Perhaps they should try charging $150... I hear that's a good price for some special time in the parks at night.

I read their new policy on costumes and I still found it very vague. I bought an adult-size Minnie Mouse costume from the Disney store ages ago which is the Minnie Mouse dress that has a layered tulle skirt. Would they consider this as a multi-layered costume exposed to a more thorough security check and by more thorough do they mean an actual pat down of some sort.

I could be totally off base, but by multi-layered I think that they are talking about capes, robes, and stuff like that. I know that during the SW 1/2 marathon they said no Jedi robes, so I am guessing that is what they are talking about. But, even then, they *discouraged* multi-layered outfits rather than banning them outright. My DH, DS and I want to go as some of the characters from Wind in the Willows. I recently Disbound at DLR as Mr. Toad, and now my hubby wants to be Moley, and my son wants to be Ratty. All of the costumes are multi-layer--typically a button down, a vest and a jacket. But, I don't foresee any issue with us wearing those costumes. And, I don't mind going through extra security to do so.

I'm so pleased the first party is on the 2nd, means we can go!! I guess they have gone back to the early nights like they did in 2014 which I'm pleased about.

Not releasing the price means a huge price jump is likely coming, based on how well the spring "parties" fill up. I wouldn't make huge plans to buy tickets til you see how much Disney wants to pull from your pocket for it.

Yes good point, as if it's the same price as their new "after hours" event I will not be impressed, that's a ridiculous price

Ticket prices went up $7 to $10 a ticket, depending on the date, from 2014 to 2015.
