Hi Everyone!

I'm thinking about attend MNSSHP after we get married on DCL. It will kind of be like a mini-honeymoon for use after the wedding cruise. I need costume ideas!! Since it's halloween -- can we go as a bride and groom and wear our wedding clothes into the parks?? I'm not sure we'd want to this.. but wondering if it's against the rules?

1) No wedding dresses, as this is against the rules.
2) Also, no face masks.

Brides have actually worn their wedding dresses to the Halloween Party itself (I know many who have!) as it can be considered a costume - both full length gowns as well as short, tea length. My question to you is, do you want to walk around MK in your wedding dress for hours on end? If your gown is full length, there is the possibility that your outfit could be considered a safety risk for some attractions (think Buzz, Haunted Mansion - admittedly a slim possibility but not totally improbable), not to mention it would get incredibly dirty! If you're fine with it, then by all means :)

We went to MNSSHP the day after our wedding, as low-key Mr. Incredible & Elastigirl, as my husband is not a huge costume fan. But I loved it!

The rules have been revised for 2016....after the blanket NO COSTUME rule came in for guests over 14...

This is what is listed FOR the Mickey's not so scary 2016...
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/mickeys-not-so-scary-halloween-party/

For Guests ages 14 and older:

  • Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.

  • Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground. (e.g. full-length Princess dresses)

  • Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.

  • Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and hats are acceptable.

  • Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.

  • May not wear masks of any kind.

Thanks for reminding me the rules had changed, I completely forgot. OP, if I were you unless you have a tea length or other non-gown length dress, I wouldn't do it. Maybe, maybe your dress can be your Plan B after a few Parties go by and the internet comes back with how strictly these rules are being enforced, but if I were in your shoes I wouldn't risk it.

So costumes are still allowed for adults with the new set of rules? There are just updated rules correct? My boyfriend and i plan on being Alice and Mad Hatter.
I know this doesn't exactly go along with the original post, sorry.

Thanks everyone - The new rules are interesting... and do rule out quite a few different kinds of costumes, but I'm sure we can find something that will work for us within the rules.

Elphie101 - did you wear those costumes under the new rules or before they were implemented? My boyfriend is thinking of being Zorro.. and I'm wondering that type of "mask" will be against the rules? I guess he could always just take it off!

We are going to be on a halloween cruise, which has an opportunity to dress up, so we might make more elaborate costumes for that and then do a more simple costumes for the MNSSHP.
