Are rides open during the scheduled parties to ticketholders of the party? What kind of events usually take place at the halloween parties?

We went in 2008 and if I remember correctly the park closed early and only ticketholders were let in for rides/parties. BAsically everything was decorated, characters were dressed up and all over the place for photo opps, there was a huge dance floor area and characters were dancing with everyone. There were dozens of candy stations set up and kids would line up and get handfuls of candy. Ride lines were not bad that I remember and we went in mid-OCtober. We had a great time but it was a bit late for our almost 3 year old so I don't think I'd do it again unti lmy kiddos are older.

I haven't been to the party since it was in California Adventure. The party is now held in Disneyland. So they don't close the park completely now and then let only party guests enter like they did when the party was in the other park. Disneyland has to stay open all day. What they do is issue wristbands to people with party tickets, and everyone who does not have a ticket/wristband has to leave at a certain time. Generally the parties begin at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m., depending on the night of the week.

There are various photo spots with characters. There are at least a couple of dance areas. There are lots of trick or treat stations. Some say lines for rides are shorter; some say they are not shorter. There are spooky projections like skulls and spiders and that sort of thing on the Castle. There is fog pumped into the Rivers of America.

Join us in the Halloween at DLR Superthread. There are many photos from the party last year, as well as lots of discussion about Halloween Time at DLR as well as at the party itself.

In the very first 2 posts on Page 1 of the Superthread - the Welcome post and the photo Table of Contents - you will find all kinds of information, with links to various threads, blogs, trip reports and pictures galore! There is also info about season highlights, treats, rides, merchandise, etc. This will give you a good overview of HalloweenTime and the party, and what to expect!

I will be updating the first post of the Superthread to include any new details or breaking news on this year's Halloween season as it comes in.

We went last year and had a great time. Most of the rides are open with little or no wait. Candy stations are everywhere and they are very generous. There's a small character parade and a a Halloween fireworks show as well.

This site can provide more information. http://allears.net/dlr/tp/dl/mhp.htm

Oh wow I had no idea it even moved to DL. good info!!!

Yes! It sounds and looks very cool. I had to miss the party's debut in Disneyland last year, unfortunately, so I can't give first-hand info - only the info based on what people on this board have explained. I plan to go this year to see it for myself. In some ways I kind of wish the party had stayed in California Adventure, but at the same time, now that it's in Disneyland there are more treat stations. Also, they project some spooky images along Main Street too, so that's kind of cool. The prices also went up when the party moved to DL, but I guess that comes with the territory!
