We are going on our 3rd visit to DL during Christmas time. Last year and this year I have debated whether or not to try Halloween time. I LOVE Christmas decorations that's why we have always chosen December. Is Halloween time a sight to see? Which do you guys like better?

Halloween is fun but I think Christmas is better. Plus there are still some halloween decorations up durring Christmas. Kind of a 2 in 1 sort of thing.

i like both thios ywar were doing halloween for a few reasons, my sons bday and the party and decorations next time we go in two or three years ited be christmas time

I think I'm in the minority to say that my favorite time at DL is Halloween. I actually usually am not a Halloween girl,(much prefer all things Christmas), but I do love the fall time, and after our first trip in October I fell in love with that time frame to go. We went during Thanksgiving week last year, so it was the first time for us to see the Christmas stuff, and while it was of course wonderful, I still prefer Halloween. We are going again this October, and attending the Halloween Party for the first time. I could really care less about the Party, but the family wants to go. So for me it's not even about Halloween itself, I just love the feel of the parks during this time. (Not to mention I prefer the warmer weather).

Halloween is great, but Christmastime is beautiful! That said, I would never go around actual Christmas. We went last November, vets weekend and holiday opening. It was great, not crazy busy and everything was freshly decorated. This year we decided on Halloween because we love that time too!

at Christmas time wed go last week nov first week dec because my bday and oct we go first week oct because my sons we celebrate both bdays together no matter when we go being only a month apart

Christmas :santa:

Early december with crisp mornings and low crowds (probably not this year), Christmas Parade, chilly nights with hot cocoa watching fireworks..........I could go on and on.

I actually like Halloween..I am not a fan of giants crowds of Christmas time.

I voted Halloween just for variety. If you've done 3 years of Christmas, why not try something new?

I have never been at Halloween so take this for what it's worth.

I love Christmastime. We actually have gone the week after Thanksgiving both times we have gone. I love snow on Main Street. Fireworks every night. The Christmas parade at night. It's a small world all dressed up. I love that I do t have to pay extra to see the fireworks. Crowds that week are very small as well. I could go on and on.

I have a friend that always goes during Halloween and she loves it too. It around birthdays for her and loves the decor too.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either choice.

It sounds as though you've done 2 Christmas trips and this would be your 3rd trip (if you don't choose Halloween instead), correct? Just making sure I have the facts accurate!

Clearly I love both Halloween Time and the holidays at DLR (I have a Superthread going for each of those seasons), so to pick one is like choosing between my children and trying to pick a favorite!:rotfl2:

On the one hand I would say that you should try Halloween Tiime at least once, just to experience it since you already have been there for the holidays twice.

On the other hand, the holiday season is so much more thorough and extensive with the decor. Halloween Time is just not up to that level of all-encompassing seasonal festivity yet. There is no getting around this. It's not an opinion. It's a fact. The holiday season offers decorations, trees, displays and music in both parks, Downtown Disney and in all 3 hotels. (The GCH and PPH Christmas trees are gorgeous.) There is a tree or decoration of some kind in just about every shop and every restaurant around the Resort (like the aromatic gingerbread house in Storytellers Cafe, for example, and the wacky tree at Goofy's Kitchen).

Halloween Time's decorations are not even close to being that involved thus far. Believe me, I wish Halloween Time were up to that level. I want Halloween Time to become bigger and better, but the holiday season is treated as a bigger deal by DLR. Cast Members have even told me, "The holiday season is very special at Disneyland."

So I suppose I am telling you all of this so that, in case you expect to get the same kind of 'specialness' from Halloween Time that you get out of a holiday visit, you know it will not be the same.

Also, this year it is expected (rumored) that Cars Land and Buena Vista Street in DCA are going to get their own themed Christmas decorations. The DCA Christmas tree will be relocated to BVS. I'm not yet sure that we will see too much in the way of Halloween decor in the "re-imagined" DCA, other than Duffy's PhotoPass spot. There have been no rumors of decorations other than a possible "Frankenweenie" overlay at the Muppets theater.

Still, I would say that you should try Halloween Time because it is loads of fun and it is totally whimsical and festive in a different way than the holiday season. The Halloween Round-Up is a gem (see our current Halloween Round-Up Theme Week that is happening in the Halloween Superthread).

If you want a change of pace, go with Halloween Time. If you want to get more bang for your Disney buck, stick with the holiday season.

I voted christmas becouse the parks are just drop dead beautiful during the holidays, but there is alot to be said for halloween too. We will be at the parks this year during halloween time, the decor is amazing.

If you have been to DL during christmas 3 time already, maybe try halloween this year. Whenever you decide to go, you wont be disappointed

I have never been at Halloween but Christmas time is magical. Even with the crowds.

Christmas all the way. While I have never been to the Halloween party, I prefer the decorations better for Christmas time:thumbsup2

We went during Christmas time last year, right after they put up everything - it was magical! We are going during Halloween this year, and can't wait! If you want to miss the crowds at Christmas, we went Nov 11-18 last year and there was barely anyone there - it was great!

I think you should do Halloween if you have already done 2 Christmases.

We've done both, and the decorations are great for both holidaze, tho as a PP has said, the halloween decor isn't as pervasive as Christmas.

Meanwhile, we're allergic to crowds, so if we ever go back during either season, I would avoid the first day the decorations are up (especially the first day Space Mtn halloween overlay is available) and also avoid going when schools are out for the hollydaze.

It sounds fun, I love Christmas decorations which is why we always chose that time of year. How are the crowds around Halloween time. We always go the week after Thanksgiving weekend and crowds aren't too bad.

I love Christmas time at Disney! It seriously is magical which is why we always choose that time too. And I agree about not going around actual Christmas, especially since school is out for winter break. we always go the week after Thanksgiving weekend, after school goes back and before winter break starts. Crowds aren't too bad. thanks for your input :)

that is exactly when we have gone the past 2 years and this year! haha i know, exactly what you said!!! looks like im leaning towards christmas every year but i do want to experience Halloween time one year!!! no low crowds this year?

your definitely right! Something just makes it so much more magical during Christmas time, I think its cause we are coming from Hawaii where it hot and humid and the crisp cool air in the morning and the chill at night just make it that much better, but i am definitely going to plan a Halloween trip, just don't know which year!!!
