Hi All,

OK decisions time, and I don't know the right answer.

We've the option of either going for the Halloween season (not party), or the Christmas season.

We've done the Christmas season past couple of years and thinks it's wonderful - can't imaging Christmas without it now.

However, my oldest (9) wants to go for Halloween. We've not been before at Halloween season, but I'm kind of thinking it will be a bit of a disappointment.

So, what do you all think?

Thanks

Iain

I personally was disapointed with Halloween and have vowed never to go any other time than Christmas. Just my opinion though. Christmas is wonderful and better than any other time over there :thumbsup2

Halloween is fantastic...we totally loved it and found Christmas to be an anti climax after going at Halloween...mind you we did go to the party! It depends how much you enjoy Christmas and / or Halloween as a family! We have always had Halloween parties at home and I find Christmas (especially now kids are teenagers) to be a bit "same-old" and far too focussed on commercialism that it's lost much of its appeal. So if you love Christmas maybe you should continue to go then, but if you want to experience Halloween then give it a go. Not much help really am I!!

I have no idea what DLPR is like at Haloween but I've been to WDW twice during Halloween and it was amazing!

However, I scared myself to death several times so not sure about a 9 year old! :rotfl:

Good luck choosing - i'm sure which ever you choose will be magical! :wizard:

Well, we only ever go at Halloween so Im biassed, but you will get 100 different views from 100 different people. Sounds like you want us to talk you out of a Halloween visit, so I would say stick with Christmas - you would obviously enjoy it more.

Having said that, Halloween i sthe only time for us because of the extra dimension the activities give to the park(s)/village etc.

We've only been at Christmas time of the two options but from trip reports and photos I'd like to give halloween a go :)
Let us know what you decide :thumbsup2

Not really - I was hoping to get a view from someone that had done both seasons.

How?

Thanks

I thought you were trying to justify the switch from Christmas to Halloween.

I havent been in December, so I cant comment on the Christmas theming (hope to go next year actually).

How ??? Hmmmm...

At Halloween there are Pumpkinmen and Red Witches in the lands at all times, wandering around the streets tricking the visitors and playing pranks (outside of the parade times as well). Children can trick-or-treat them. There are extra events such as the pinata in Halloweenland, then theres the villain's parade. All over Main Street and the lands there are caricatures of the pumpkinmen up to mischief, and there's face-painting in the massive pumpkin on the plaza. It just feels (to us) like we are more involved in and part of the DLRP/Disney magic.

When we went at Halloween, it was the children's choice - between then or Christmas, I was a little disappointed at the time that they chose Halloween, but being boys and with their ages (10 and 6 going 16) I appreciated why. It was superb we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The theming is out of this world, granted it is going to be a little different this year with the introduction of Stitch, but the Pumpkinmen will still be around in Frontierland and it really is worth a visit just to see the Halloween decorations in there.

The face painting and hair decorating was a big hit with my 2 and the Villains parade is excellent, added to this there just seemed to be so much going on and characters around all the time (Villains).

If we were planning a later in the year trip I'd have the same conundrum as you, but the other way around - I know we'd all love Halloween and we'd definately go to the party next time, although I'd love to go at Christmas I think the lads would find it a bit too Disney, sugary and twee. Good reason for me to plan a solo trip, rather selfish I know but I'd love a day to just wander around the park on my own :rolleyes1

We went for Halloween I think 2 years ago now and we loved it - we took my little cousin Ebony who adored the face painting and hair styling, and thought she should be a ghost on Phantom Manor!

We also went for Christmas in 1995 and to be honest I was very disappointed. Probably didn't help that Paris was colder than Russia at the time but I felt the decorations were a bit rubbish, however I'm guessing this has all changed a lot since then as my friend Nick went for Xmas and New Year last year and ravedddd about it.

I think it is nice to see to see the Park in all its different seasons, however if you feel you would be regretting not being there at Christmas then maybe it would be best to go for Xmas this year and have loads of fun planning for Halloween next year?

hi, we went at Christmas last year and loved it, I loved the decorations and the Christmas music on main street, it really was magical however I don't think we will go in December again.
It was so cold that we are going wdw next december.

I would love to try Halloween though it won't be until 2008 if we do.

I can't speak for the Xmas events but I really loved Halloween and the atmosphere in the park was fantastic. The pumpkin men were great entertainment and I thought the themeing was good too. I'm going early November this year because I am hoping to catch Fantillusion but I would otherwise have plumped for Halloween any time.

My brother and his soon to be wife have just booked for their honeymoon and they are going at Halloween this year. They have also booked for the Halloween party :cool1: I will be on here a lot in the next couple of months picking up hints and tips for them!!

We went at Christmas last year and although it was really great to see what it's like at that time of year, I don't think I would go again! It was just so cold, to the point where it was unpleasant! And I don't feel the cold particularly badly usually! I've never been at Halloween but I would really love to, it looks like a brilliant atmosphere - especially the party!

So I would probably say go at Halloween, particularly as you've been before at Christmas. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone - we are opted to go for the Christmas season - mainly due to cost.

We Easyjet opening flights up from Bristol at the end of October, it becomes significally cheaper for us to use their services than either Eurostar or FlyBe (from Exeter).

I would go for christmas... there is so much to look at. Halloween is nice to but yeah you will be disapointed if you are use to the christmas magic...:santa:
