We will be at universal October 2006,
are the halloween nights suitable for children???
When do tickets usually go on sale??
Is there anywhere i can see pictures of the event??
Any info would be great, thanks :)

HHN is scary. The age of the children and how well they deal with scary stuff are determinants. If they don't like chainsaw wielding evil people, then they shouldn't go.

12 to 13 seems to be the age they can handle it. My daughter went when she was 12. 10 and 11 is kinda young unless the kid is really into scarey stuff and being yelled at.
You can see pictures at www.ioacentral.com and on my site here

Tickets go on sale sometime in September.

It is scary. We did see some children there. But few and far between. I think it depends on the kid. Some kids are scared by Tough to be a Bug. :sad2:
And there are smoker's EVERYWHERE. I think it must be on the ticket media that every third person must be smoking. ;) People were even smoking inthe packed que lines. And after 9 p.m. HHN was like being in a frat house. And it was EXTREMELY crowded.
Disney it's not.
Luckily we have PAPs. So we went early, hung around and stayed mostly on the US side. You don't want to be on the IoA side if you can help it.

my 12 yr old DD was ok with it this year, but her ll yr old friend wasn't. Only thing my DD had problems with, was getting tired & not wanting to stay until 12-1 in the morning...

I started going when I was 14. It's a classic Halloween event that is meant to scare you. It isn't cute or have trick-or-treating like Disney's thing. It's haunted houses, outdoor "scare zones", shows, and a parade. If they're old enough to handle being scared, the only things I'd worry about is the large amounts of alcohol being sold as if it were water, and the iffy content of Bill & Ted.

The official website for last year's event (It's completely different every year):

A good archive of the event's history:

Thanks for the info guys, my DD will be 12, we will have my 16 yr old niece with us too & her 11 yr old sister (who i dont think will like it!) Can you walk around and avoid the scare zones? Was thinking that my niece could look after them whilst adults check out the haunted house, scare zones, etc. I think they will be ok with the parade.
Another option i've read is that hardrock cafe has a kids club available at $15 an hour, anyone got info on that???

Can you walk around and avoid the scare zones?

They are in different locations every year, but last year they were unavoidable, you had to go through them to get to the Studios, and if they use the two park setup again, it'll likely be the same way this year. And even if you can stay away from the designated scare zones, it's not really worth going if you don't want to be scared. Tickets are $50 for a 5 hour experience (7 on peak nights).

Also, due to last year's congestion problems, chances are they'll be opening all of IOA this year. And when the event was just at IOA, practically every area was a scare zone.
