Halloween Horror Nights?

I'm planning my first October trip and I am thinking of going to one of the Halloween Horror Nights. What can you tell me about them? Is it a hard ticket event? Do I need a regular park pass? etc.

If you've never been...you will LOVE it! We'll have a DIS meet with others who will be in town those weekends. It's really a blast!

Thanks so much for the link. My older kids (16 and 15) have been begging to go this event. My two younger kids (preteens) went to their first haunted houses last year and LOVED them and THINK they are ready to experience HHN. Having never been, that link provided me with exactly the info I was looking for.

I believe thats up to the parents knowing what there kids can handle.But yes HHN can be risque with the scantly clothes the scareactors use and very intense.

It is at least PG-13 at times rated R.I took my DS when he was 12 and he loved it and goes every year since.

The onething that makes me mad is seeing parents pushing strollers around during the event.

Of course it is up to parents, that's why I used words like think and could.

But imo these houses are way more intense than others I've visited like KNotts, so thinking that because the kids went to some haunted houses last year and loved it would be good enough could mean they waste their money and have a bad night.

For example 07 my friend bought his eager teen daughter and her friend with us. We did the express pass etc yet after 2 houses they refused to go in anything else.

So Babynurse just be aware it is a very adult night out. Fantastic fun, but very adult. We will be leaving our 11 year old and 9 year old at the Hotel with a sitter.

That is so sad! I was debating whether or not to take my 13 year old this year. But not cause he might be too scared, more like cause I might be too scared...and he might enjoy it too much!

Last year my (then 12) year old took two of his good friends to one of our more premier haunted houses in the state accompanied by my adult daughter and her boyfriend.

He came home so pi$$ed! They had to leave half way through cause one of his friends got too scared half way in and the other was too scared to even go in at all! They were both 12 so I agree with the PG-13 thing.

My son whom will be 13 when we go to HHN in Ocotber loves to be deliciously scared. I think he likes it a little too much! He can't wait to go. I'm only afraid for myself, so I am glad I read that they prey off your fear so I am going to try my hardest not to look too scared LOL!

I've only seen it once and that wasn't at HHN. It was at my local amusement park's halloween event a couple years ago and I was working at the entrance of a house as a volunteer. The child, who was pre-teen, was pretty scared and didn't want to go, but their parents insisted. We talked to the kid in hopes of alleviating their fear.

It also doesn't have to be a halloween event either. I've seen a father yelling at his son because his son was scared to go on Jimmy Nuetron. This was right as a person enters the building, so I have no idea how long they could have waited in line. I had just entered the express line when that drama unfolded.

As for adults who don't like haunted houses, my wife is included in the group. She also hates horror movies. Fortunately, she's a sport about it and we both go to Universal in October. We bring my parents along, and then my dad and her sit at Citywalk (usually Margaritaville), while mom and I enjoy HHNs. I'll also see some of my fellow Dis'ers at HHN and hang out with them while seeing the haunted houses.

I don't like horror movies and it took me a while to actually go thru a haunted house. Now that I have the last few years I love it. It is so much fun.. the adrenaline... the fear... the suspense... the relief you feel when it is all over.. plus the many many laughs along the way... priceless..
