I took a last minute solo trip this week. Going to Universal tomorrow and trying to decide if I should also do HHN. Any one ever done it solo. I usually have no problem doing stuff solo. Doing Disney and universal solo no problem but I'm not sure about doing something like HHN solo. Any advise would be appreciated.

I go solo most of the time...not many of my friends love the event like I do and they don't usually buy Express. But I won't do the event w/o Express.

That's my other thing. I'm wondering if it's worth the money. Everything I've heard about it says don't do it without the express pass. I see they have a discount for the regular ticket it's $60. But the express pass is $119. With tax and everything it will be like $200. Is it worth that much money?

For my wife and me, it is unquestionably worth it. We have a blast every year, and we're already looking forward to next year. If you already like halloween events, then you really should try it. Watch a few youtube videos to see what the scare zones are like. There's a few indoor videos of houses (edited to not show the entire house) too, but the videos are usually too dark. There's some funny videos from the Ellen show where a couple of staff members go through a house (note: in the Ellen videos, the people go through alone. In reality, there is a continuous conga line of people going through the houses). The sets, costumes, makeup, and effects are so well done, and it is all a very impressive event.

As for going solo, if you are the type to strike up a conversation in line, then don't worry about being solo. If you don't talk to strangers in line, then that would be an additional reason to get the express pass (5-15 minutes wait in line vs 15-120 minutes in standby).

Either way, express pass is very nice to have. So much so that we already include express in our budgeting, since we only go with express (Frequent Fear with Express).

I just re-read the OP and it sounds like you'll be doing a full day at the parks. Yet another reason to get express is you will take fewer steps and be able to see everything in much less time.

99% of my trips are solo
and I do two week stays onsite

Sometimes I met up with friends or a person on the Disboards In the parks

Did a few nights solo at hhn this month
Never felt the need to be chatting with others while in a house line

Many times I just observed the action around me in line while other times did have some conversations with those in line

It is worth it to go to hhn as with friends or solo

I buy the ep multiday Ff + pass for hhn
Waits are much shorter for the house lines

I already bought express passes for the parks for the daytime. I went on Tuesday and kind of feel like I didn't need the express pass. I forgot how many things at universal have single rider lines unlike Disney which has very few single rider lines. I know a lot of people say to get the express pass fir HHN but after feeling like I kind of wasted money on them for the day time. Is it that much more needed for HHN?

I'm too impatient to wait in line 45 minutes for a house, much less waiting 2+ hours for a house. The HHN express passes are also valid for each ride (once per ride) operating.

If you choose to not get the express pass, look for touring plans to follow and definitely utilize Stay and Scream to get a head start.

Have fun!

You can buy the ep while at hhn if you are facing long lines for house waits

This week is hell week so not sure what type of waits for Friday-Sunday for hhn

Also UO sells half price ep that covers 11 pm to closing on nights park closes at 2

When park closes at 1:00 am, half price ep begins at 10:00 pm

These ep can be bought when the park opens at 6:30
They sell out most nights by 9:30

If you check online of house wait times, it would help you decide if you need them

If you go in November, no lines for hhn houses....

They will have an EP that is good after 10PM and it's about 1/2 of the regular cost...the cost will vary depending on the number of EPs sold that night. Go to Guest Services and see what they are selling them for when you go.

So I decided to go and i got the Express pass. It was fun. I think it was worth the price and the express pass was really helpful in getting into all the houses in the one evening. Lines were long so i'm not sure i would have gotten into everything without it. I did have fun and i would go to it again just not solo. I've gone to a bunch of haunted houses in my area with friends and after doing HHH solo i've decided that for me the most fun part of doing haunted houses is laughing at/with my friends from the reactions to the scares in the houses. I just felt like it was missing something doing it by myself and not having anyone to share the scares with.

I know how you feel about enjoying someone's company. I ran into a friend from work Friday night so we hung out a while then went our separate ways. I'll go next Friday and Saturday night to end the event.
