Am I right in thinking the event finishes at midnight?
Will Mears still be running at this time? Can I just give them a call and request a pickup time, or do I need to use some other taxi firm? We are staying in WDW and aren't hiring a car so are relying on bus and Mears transport to get out of WDW.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

I checked with Mears last year and the pick up times to get to HHN weren't good but they seemed to be pretty good about pickup times from Universal except I have read alot of negative posts from people relying on Mears after HHN. We just ended up taking a cab which was about $25 each way with tip.

Taxi prices don't seem too bad then.

So do Mears have set times when they will take you and pick you up?

They did have set pick up times from the Disney area which were in the mornings or the earliest one in the afternoon was I believe around 4:30 which didn't work for getting us in to the park for the Stay and scream. They were alot better about there return times. They said to just call before you were ready to leave (either 1 or 2 hours, can't remember). There price was reasonable ($15 pp) but it just didn't work for us. Our cab fares were around $28 each way from Cypress Pointe in Lake Buena Vista.

What's Stay and Scream?

What time do HHN actually start, ie. what time would tickets give us entry from, and would Mears do a pick up from Disney to get us there for this time?

Is there a limit on how late they will pick you up, I don't know what time HHN finish either?

I don't know much! :rotfl2:

Stay and Scream is if you are in the parks for the day..say you buy a one day ticket and you are in the parks by say 3....you get to go to a holding area when the park closes. Then when they are ready, you get to see the houses before they open the main gates at 6:30 or 7....the time it ends depends on the day, weekends usually til 2, weekdays til 12 or 1.
I would do what everyone else says, rent a car, or get a taxi. Or you can always do what I do....stumble into traffic, and hope for a fast driver.pirate:

you would have to be in the stay and scream designated section by 5 pm in order to stay in the park. otherwise, you would have to leave the park and then go thru the metal detectors in order to reenter when hhn begins. this is very time consuming as the line to enter the park starts early and is slow going through

peak night closings are 2 in the morning. peak nights are friday and saturday.

non peak nights, hhn closes at midnight.

i wouldn't count on mears providing service around 2ish in the morning hours.
you should check out either staying on site over night or stay at a close hotel to the park or cab service to return to disney resorts.

Thanks for the advice so far everyone, I am still full of questions though!

What would be a good time to arrive if you are just attending for HHN? Is it like a morning opening all over again with large queues of people?

That it is. There will be long lines of people waiting to get in, especially on Fri/Sat. If you plan on arriving at 7p and getting right in....ha. You want to be at the gate at least 90 mins prior to HHN opening, as lines grow FAST. Security is also heightened and it will take 2x as long to get through.
