Me and my boyfriend will be going to HHN on October 4. This will be our very first year and I AM SO FREAKIN' EXCITED. I've been obsessed with HHN for years, and I've never even been. I know it's going to be amazing.

But I'm starting to get a little worried about lines and the fact that we're only going one night. Will we be able to get everything done in one night? I don't want to spend the entire night waiting in lines. We won't care about the rides during the event, since we'll be at Universal for 3 days. I'm just worried about getting into all the houses and seeing Freddy Krueger :cloud9:

What are your experiences with the HHN Express Passes? Are they worth it? We're getting the Stay and Scream passes and the night we're going has the $35.99 Express pass, so I really don't mind paying the extra $$ if it's going to reassure me that we'll get everything done.

What are your opinions?

Since you are only going to be here one night, I would definately recommend the EP for that night. The lines can and do get to over 120 mins on some nights so w/o the EP you won't be able to do much at all. Spend the extra money!

I totally agree with Metro West. Last year we went for 2 nights, one without, and one with EPs. The difference was unreal! The night we had the EPs we did all the houses, then did a few again, (we hit 3 without EPs, right after being let out of the stay & scream area at Finnegan's, then did those 3 again later with the EPs, when the lines were like 1.5 to 2 hours long) it was well worth the $$$$ in my opinion :thumbsup2

Here's another one who agrees with MetroWest. Last year we thought that since we were going the early part of October, there'd be no problems. Boy, was I wrong. We were only able to get into 4 of the houses and the lines were at least 190-120 minutes long. This year we're going on a Thursday, definitely not a weekend, Oct. 11 and spent the money on the Express Passes. Worth every penny!!!!

We are going October 4th and getting the express passes for sure. Do not like waiting in the lines with all the smokers-sorry. :hippie:

I'll be there that night w/EP too and the only thing that bothers me are the teenagers trying to swallow each other's faces.

Express Passes are no longer an option, they are a necessity.

Hey-are you guys planning a meet? Maybe go through one of the houses together?

So with EP, what would you guys say is the average wait time for a house? We're going to get EP for one night of our trip (Not sure which, yet) and a FFP for the other nights.

i've attended since 2000 and will answer your question based on last years hhn.

i always buy the ep for each night i attend.
i spend too much money to waste my time in long lines.

going the 2nd weekend to hhn last year, the ep saved me loads of wait time.
there was only 2 houses where my wait was 25 minutes. the shortest wait was about 5 minutes.

i do the stay and scream area and get a head start on the houses. there are usually 2 maybe 3 houses that open around 6. general admission is let in at 6:30.

i usually start using my ep around 9 in the evening. if i can get in the house in the regular line within 20 minutes, i save the ep for that house for later. i do each house twice when i am there.

lines are not bad in the beginning of the evening.
on peak nights, i have found the crowds to lighten up around 12:30 and non peak around 11ish.

the only rides i use my ep for are jaws and the mummy. i do the rides in the daytime and the houses and scarezones in the evening.

the ep is generally only accepted for the first show of Bill and Ted's adventure. the first show is usually the lightest crowd wise.

you will have fun!
try to get an early start and you won't have to be too concerned about long lines in the early part of the evening.

Thanks for that info, Mac :cool2:

When we went in 2004 we really should gave got an EP. Queued for Hellgate for a lonnnnnnnng time (1.5 - 2 hours). We went over the space of a couple of nights so managed to see everything. Will be doing the same this year, but don't want to spend all night standing in lines! I guess the benefit of standing in line means you get to watch the film about the house you're queuing for. Favourites from 2004 were Hellgate & Castle Vampyr - really helped to set the scene! Wouldn't want to miss that, so might do as many of the houses as possible with just the FFP then save the EP for the return journey. We'll just take it as it comes, I suppose!

84 days and counting :woohoo: :cool1:

OH yeah....Hellgate Prison and Castle Vampyr were two of my favs as well. I also liked Ghostown...the sheriff and I got into a staring contest for about five mins...neither of us wanted to break away from the stare but finally he did. I loved the electric chair at Hellgate and you're right...the line was something like 105 mins when we queued. That was the last house I did that night and when I went back a few nights later, I had the EP in hand. Lesson learned.

Ghost Town was fun. Memories of walking through a 'saloon' and the bartender spraying people with either pressurised air or water from a syphon...

The movie for Deadtropolis was great as well - but that house was sick! Remember the zombie puking into the trash can? :rotfl2: Urgh, the smell!

I remember the zombie puking into trash can but luckily I didn't smell anything. I guess he had a light dinner? :rotfl: :rotfl:
