Halloween Horror Nights Discussion Thread

I am new to HHN and have a question.

How can the Saw house be in the queue for Jaws? When you enter Jaws, I think (depending on how busy it is) there are queues to the left and right (but when it is not busy, you just go to the left). Is it on the right and they just took up the rows? Must be small.

It is not in the Jaws queue, it is to the right of Jaws. Jaws itself runs during HHN they have their own queue.

Also, are all the houses "mazes"? I see this word interchanged with "house" frequently.

Since you are in semi darkness and disoriented when you wander through the houses it's like being in a maze. The difference is that in a maze you are supposed to find your way out. In the houses you always have someone in front of you and if you make a wrong turn there is someone there to get you back in the right direction.
I am getting so excited. I was telling hubby this morning that it looks intense and scary but looks like so much fun also.

TIA
It's a lot of fun, you'll have a great time.

I'm wondering if they are going to add next weekend to Frequent Fear. If not, we might head out to Busch again (I'm almost done with my review of Howl-O-Scream, and I have to say we really enjoyed it). Otherwise it will be a Universal weekend again...if not, we should be there both Thurs. and Sun. After being at HHN on Friday and HoS on Sat., I'm already having withdrawals today.

This might have already been said, but I think they could have done better with the headpieces for the cannibals.....

I finally finished my Howl-O-Scream review. Click here to see how it compares to HHN, at least in my opinion. We're going to return to HoS during a peak night when our HHN FF passes aren't good because we didn't get a chance to see the shows. I can't wait till Thurs. to get back to HHN.

I think I still liked last year´s better scarewise, but last year I was only looking to get scared. This year I went with a different objective, to judge the house, to enjoy the theme and ambience. In details and decorations I loved this year´s. I looked at every single detail and redid all houses at least three times. :cool1:

I remember them doing that last year - we heard just before we arrived in FL that they changed it. We were doing a RIP tour that night and had to buy a regular tix for the event, but were able to get our money back by proving to them we had a FFP. If it happens again this year, hopefully we'll be able to do the same.

In terms of the houses there are some great details, especially Wolfman. As far as scarezones go this year is pretty weak. Again, in my experience they adapt as the season goes on so we could see it get better as they receive feedback.

Yeah, zones were weak...and I dont see them getting better. They were short as HELL. Houses had amazing detail, but SAW was clearly where the money was spent this year. Wanna see pics? Oh do I have the pics.

Great pictures and review...you have me so curious about the Saw house and the person beside me..

some of the others in the group were a real downer.
they didn't want to do the houses, they wanted to do rides or just sit and look around i guess. we did have 2 other couples that went with the flow on doing the houses and shows.

We have a non private RIP tour schedule on 7/17. All I know is that if we paid almost $400 we sure as heck better be doing the houses and shows. I would go ape if all people in the group wanted to do was sit around or ride the regular rides. Go during the day and buy a $20 EP or stay onsite for that.

I was reading somewhere that if people dont like what is going on they are free to go on their own. I called Universal and they said you cant use your credentials for houses after the tour but I wonder if you break off from the pack if you can use them at least once.

Do they scan your pass or what?

For those that have been, are the "scary people" all over, or just in the "zones" and "houses." This would probably scare me out of my mind, but I know DH would love it and was thinking of planning a weekend. If the scary people are only in the respectable areas, I could do it and work my way around it, but if not, I don't think I'd be able to handle it. Thanks!

Just in the zones and houses, and the zones aren't very scary this year. In any event if you really needed to you can go around all of the scarezones.

We did the daytime tour once at IOA, and literally half our group hated thrill rides and wanted nothing to do with them. The rest of the group did them all (plus some repeats on Hulk and the Dragons) and they waited for us each time. What a waste of money!

As for the credentials, last (or was it the year before?) when we did RIP, one house wouldn't let us into Express with our tour glowstick, one did, and one actually let us back into the RIP entrance. This year we did RIP on media day and did two house repeats, both of which let us in through Express although one was very confused about it. Basically there is no consistency but give it a try.

Wow, yeah what a waste. I can understand going to a theme park and not liking thrill rides but to get a tour?

Yeah, I called about the credentials and they said they couldn't be used for the houses. I wasn't sure if it was a pass they scan or what so from what you are indicating its just a glowstick?

I don't understand why they dont just let you do everything again since you pay so much for RIP. Its not like they even have many tours in a night.

Well, when we go we will still try and use them and see what happens. Who knows, maybe the rep on the phone was incorrect about not being allowed to use them at the houses after the tour.

Thanks for the heads up! :)

It's a special glowstick that is marked with RIP so they can tell it's from the tour. I would definitely try to use it, although the HHN website does say, "Once your tour ends, your R.I.P. Tour credentials can be used for Universal Express® access to our regular attractions." That sounds like the rides, but who wants to bother with those when you have paid big bucks to go into the houses! If one house says no, try another.

no pass on the RIP tours.
your tour guide is the one that leads you up to the house.
the guide may or may not go thru the houses with you, it depends on that person. they may meet you at the exit of the house if they don't walk thru with you.

if you break away from your rip group, you won't be able to sneak into a house.
the rip groups go ahead of the express line.
you follow your TG to the front of the house, the tm working will hold off the lines at that point, or within a few minutes and let that tour group go through.

if you tried to get thru the houses in the ep line, i don't think it would work.

what you can do after your tour is over is do the rides.
that is what is accessible to you in the express lines by showing your vip tours glow stick you wear around your neck on a string.

if you have some in your group that don't want to do a house, yell louder than them and i'm sure others will join in.

the tour is basically doing the houses, zones and bill and ted.
that is what is listed in your email confirmation.

when i was in a group of peeps that were not interested in the houses, we ended up letting them wait for the group once we were done.
we did not skip out on the houses but had to hear some of them whine about it.

Are you allowed to get a picture WITH any of the scareactors?

Kait saw the trio from the strangers in pictures and wants to go and get herr picture with them :confused3 She's a horror flick chick. Her and my 10 year old ARE their father's daughters. :lmao:

Yes, you can take your picture with any scareactor in the scare zones and if you can catch one of the house SAs on their way to shift change you can pose with them also. Inside the houses things are moving too fast for them to stop what they are doing and pose with you.

If you look at some of the picture threads, especially the ones posted by donaldduck352, you will see them posing with SAs

No pics in the houses is also for safety reasons. The scareactors are in there in dark conditions so flashes are not compatible with their vision.

Thank you! I saw the map, so I already figured ways to get around if the actors stay where they're supposed to. So I think I'll be able to handle it! Thanks again!
