I have always wanted to attend this event and now I am actually going to be in Orlando at the end of Sept with my family in Disney World. Now we do plan on attending Universal one day during our stay BUT the kids would not be able to go through this with me. So that would mean taking time away from being with them and also paying for a babysitter to watch them while I go. I have been working in the industry for 5 years now at a local haunted attraction. I love being scared!! But with that said normal local attractions just don't cut it. I'm always expectant of the pop out scares or I notice the missed opportunities. I just don't want to take the time away from my kids (I feel extreme guilt over this actually) if it's just like your average haunted attraction.... what are your thoughts people?? Will I be disappointed if I go? Thanks!!

Check out the HHN thread, will give you a better idea of the scare zones and houses. I will say, I thought the houses, decorations, and character actors were excellent last year. Spring for Express. It will make the house lines much easier to get through.

As all, some will say yes, some will say no. It is still up to you how much you want to do this. Many do leave their non horror age/type kids enjoying something else, and go solo, some even meeting up with others. Which Mac will probably set up, when you are going thread, so you can see if others will be there the same night you may be going. Dismeets can be fun.

Okay, so I love Halloween and I will give my impressions of HHN. As far as scares go, it's not that great. The issue being that the lines for the haunted houses are so long that they just put you through in one big long line. You see the performer who will jump out get someone ten people ahead of you, so you know they are there. I didn't even find the houses to be all that unique, and the lines were so long that Express Pass was needed to see all of them. Now, the Scare Zones were actually really cool and very well themed. I appreciated this a lot more and they had the better costumes and sets. Still, the street atmosphere was a little too much of a party scene, though I hear that's been toned down a lot more recently. Personally, I did enjoy HHN, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. I've been back to MNSSHP several times in comparison. That's just my two-cents.

If you have the opportunity to do hhn, go for it

Try it once and decide if it meets your expectations
Since you will be in the area, why not take advantage of it

It is not like the usually Halloween scare houses that you find at local town events or 6 Flags

Professional looking scare actors will be a hit in the jobs that they do

House themes are well set up

I always do unmask the horror day tour to see 6 houses with all the lights on
And have a tour guide to explain the background and how everything in the house is related to the event

Going thru the houses at night you don’t see all th extra touches out into the houses

The event is professional done and you will be awed at the scare actors and set up in the park for this event

I am completely and totally addicted to hhn

Some nights I do the park with friends and other nights I do it solo
Both ways work fine for me

Absolutely worth it!!

HHN is a fabulous event and a lot of fun.

I love being scared and getting good scares has never been an issue there........I get loads of them in scare zones and yep, in houses too.......

You don’t always see the scares in front of you the way the houses are set up.

Some houses for us have been poor on occasion, and I do mean the odd one or two, but most have been fabulous and so well done. Every year the standard seem to get better and better.........I don’t think you’d be disappointed.

As for leaving your kids, well, that’s another choice altogether.

Thanks so much everyone! I was also looking at Mickey's Halloween party. I might do that with the kids as well. We all love Halloween. I guess I'm just torn bc I eel guilty spending the money on myself & taking time away from my kids... So if it was a disappointment then I would just skip it. I'm gonna check out the HHN thread. I didn't realize it had it's own thread. Thanks so much guys!!
