Rose ... congrats on the Universal trip! We haven't been since 2011 and need to get back to see the newest Harry Potter additions. I will rely on you for a trip report or pictures of some kind of review, OK?
Early dining starts at 5:45PM. We've only done that one time and it was when we sailed with my parents and we hated it ... you can't even enjoy sailaway because you have to get ready for dinner; we also felt like it got in the way of our enjoying port times to the fullest because we had to get ready for dinner early. That's just our opinion - we like the later seating because it doesn't seem as rushed to us.
Although we sailed the Magic last month, we didn't pay a lot of attention to the Halloween festivities. There was trick or treating one afternoon for the kids - costume party one night - specialty drinks that will turn you diabetic if you aren't already there - storytelling in the atrium with the Halloween Tree - stuff like that. Someday we should crawl out of the spa or the bar and see what's going on around the ship.
