Halloween Decorations

I grew up in a home where holidays were very low key. I do very minimal decorating as well. I do enjoy seeing the decorations of others but I don't enjoy doing it myself.

Off to Christmas Tree shops to see what I can find, maybe Hobby Lobby and Michaels too, someone must have nice lights.

Putting it up is fun for me but taking it down is such a nuisance, I totally get skipping it and there were years I did skip when I was too stressed.

Hmmm, putting stuff away would actually be a great local cottage business idea, I would cheerfully pay for someone else to take down my ornaments, tree and lights and wreaths and pack it all away...bliss, it would be the gift I would ask for :scratchin

I have pumpkin at the ready, with considerations to buy another. No carving until October.
I'm prepping many custom decorations.
I don't really decorate for general Fall, but I'm not against it. It's a good way to decorate for November.

Nope. Pretty much the only holiday/season that we decorate at all for is Christmas (and even then it's the tree and a wreath).

I don't really decorate much anymore.

I will put out my Halloween pumpkin/jack-o-lanterns at work a week or 10 days before Halloween. And my Christmas Starbucks Cups collection about 2 weeks before Christmas. That is the extent of my Holiday decorations.

Heck I've lived in my house for 13+ years and I just bought and hung artwork. Obviously decorating/decor is not my thing.

Halloween decorations are in full swing at our house (inside only). I love the way my house looks at Halloween time. Next weekend I need to decorate the front porch for autumn - pumpkins, cornstalks, hay and mums 🍂🎃🍁

I found some lights! Not what I wanted, exactly, but I can live with the big old style looking orange bulbs for the outside bannisters, my old stray ones are out draping from flower boxes because I won't waste anything. Of course, in my diligent search I did find some bits and pieces to add to the collection like a wooden squirrel that looked like it needed a home and an amazing big cute woodland looking turkey who needed to be mine for Thanksgiving. Also stumbled on an adorable non Christmassy snowman because I decorate for all winter but the stores don't accommodate, they completely skip Jan- April for some wacky reason. I entwined leaves garland with white lights on the mantel have another on a table to ward off seasonal blahs, have a few over doorways and a light up jack o lantern which should probably be replaced but I'm not seeing them yet so that search continues. I put sweet gel decals on the bathroom mirrors because, well, why not? There are pretty mums every other step outside with mini scarecrows and straw pumpkins peeking out, real pumpkins maybe next weekend. It was nice that my family gave oohs and ahhs to my efforts, I don't need it but it was nice.

Inside - I put my generic fall stuff out at the beginning of September, add Halloween at the beginning of October, switch the Halloween out for specific thanksgiving stuff at the beginning of November, then pack it all away and switch to Christmas after Thanksgiving.

Outside - I planted a mum today. I generally do a bit to the porch a day or two before Halloween, and take it down soon after. Then I'll do lights and and a door hanging for Christmas.

I decorate for every season, and most holidays. I put my fall stuff up on Wednesday,,will swap it for Halloween on Oct 1. Moron down the street has all these Halloween blow ups on one side of his yard,,and his Christmas ones up on the other side. Geez..wait for September to be over first! I was in Walmart Wednesday, and they have almost all the Christmas stuff out (except for trees). Why do they always have to rush it?

My kids decorate and put out sugar pumpkins in mid-Oct. I buy huge carving pumpkins as they go on big sales starting now and put them out uncarved. Once Oct 30 hits, we carve the 4 huge pumpkins I get and have them in jack-o-lantern form for the holiday.

So, I'm kinda minimal for fall, if you count 8 pumpkins on the porch and steps (4 big, 4 small) minimal...

Halloween decorations are up; they go up the weekend before the first day of fall and I can barely get myself to wait until then. I have so much stuff that I want it to be worth the time it takes to decorate. Two Halloween trees, Halloween garland with lights on the bannisters, lots of stuff placed here and there. Halloween is my favorite day of the year. The weekend after Halloween I strip down to just the fall stuff, then decorate for Christmas the weekend before Thanksgiving. I go all out for Christmas as well, and have started leaving it up until the weekend of MLK Day. I just love all the decorative lights in the house and leaving the lights up helps me get through dreary January.

I love Halloween! I decorate, but to what extent varies with how much energy I have for it each year and how much the kids get involved. After Halloween I leave out the generic fall stuff until I change over to Christmas decor after Thanksgiving.

My home is fully pumpkined out, I have fall color flowers and leaves all over the place, even picked up a few cute fresh pumpkins that will remain until I unfurl all the Christmas gloriousness! This year all my mirrors have gel Happy Halloween notes and I was thrilled that Grogu appeared on Halloween hand towels at Christmas Tree Shops. Outside has mums on all the steps too.

Candy is also is hand for the neighborhood kids!
