Halloween Cruisers 2002 Where are you?

WHA--WOO! Emma--is your quote of the day Samwise's reply when Gandolf asks him what he overheard while listening under the window??

Is this fanfiction.net something adults would find interesting? Is it a DIS site?

Have a super day,
Jan :earsgirl:

It is indeed Jan! Well done, gold star for you today!

Fanfiction.net is just a site where ppl post their stories and stuff. Rory knows more about it than me. I can now log in!

Oh my gosh! Today we had a really rather boring year assembly where we got told all this stuff about drugs that we already knew but they brought 2 of our local rugby team players. At the end 3 ppl had to answer questions about what we'd learnt and cos they got them right the whole year is going to the first home game of the season!

Today's quote is
"If I take one more step, it will be the farthest away from home I've ever been."

Emma - I'm glad you can log in now! Sorry bout the drug assembly. Today we went to see Jesus Christ Superstar at our local touring theatre. It was really good, but the guy who played Jesus wasn't really good. Mary Magdalen was the best. I love some of the music from that play.

Jan - Okay, *deep breath* fanfiction.net (ff.net) is a site where everyday ordinary people can post their fanfiction, or original stories. There are different types of fanfiction. Some are based on things kids and teens would like. Others are based on things adults might like. They establish a thing where you can review the story and let the author know how you liked it. On ff.net there is a lot of shorthand talk. (i.e. R&R - read and review) For most teens it is an excellent thing to get a review and for me and my friends it becomes competetive. If you would like to check it out go to http://www.fanfiction.net . Emma's pen name is Rose Greenthumb and I have two: Oliver*n*Angel and ScottishDream.

Okay because I saw Jesus Christ Superstar I am going to quote the entire lyrics of my favorite song: I Don't Know How to Love Him

"I don't know how to love him
What to do, how to move him
I've been changed
Yes really changed
In these past few days
When I see myself
I seem lke someone else

"I don't know how to take this
I don't see why he moves me
He's a man
He's just a man
And I've had so many
Men before
In very many ways
He's just one more

"Should I bring him down?
Should I scream and shout?
Should I speak of love?
Let my feelings out?
I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?

"Don't you think it's rather funny
I should be in this postition?
I'm the one
Who's always been
So calm so cool
No lovers fool
Running every show
He scares me so

"I never thought I'd come to this
What's it all about?
Yet if he said he loved me
I'd be lost
I'd be frightened
I couldn't cope
just couldn't cope
I'd turn my head
I'd back away
I wouldn't want to know
He scares me so
I want him so
I love him so."

RORY: Glad you enjoyed the show. It is one of my favorites too and sometimes one of the songs will sing in my head and I have no idea what got it started! :)
I will check out fanfiction some day. I have a meeting tomorrow and Saturday so today is not a good one. How about if you or Emma post a story there you put a link here so I could find it?

Have a super day,
Jan :earsgirl:

Rory-Dont be sorry about the assembly, I get to go to a rugby match with all my mates out of it! Never seen Jesus Christ Superstar but I've heard it's good.

Jan-I will go and find a link to my story.

Todays quote (1 of my personal favourites)
"You step onto the road and if you dont keep your feet there's no knowing where you'll be swept off to."

Todays quote: "I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every single minute of it."

Okay so now I get to start a new count down...

154 DAYS UNTIL HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX COMES OUT!

My quote of today is
"You did not seriously a hobbit could contend with the will of Sauron? There are none who can."

Hi Jan and Dena,

I replied to your posts on the 10/2/03 thread but I thought I would have a better chance of you reading it here.
I lurk from time to time but have been very busy with work since November. I was asked to participate in a corporate wide project with colleagues from across the country. It started in November & our portion of the project is scheduled to end or at least slow down in March. At that point our recommendations go to someone else. We may play a part in the implementation but that is down the road.
Anyway, we will be on the 2003 Halloween cruise. I have seen several other people who are going post but they don't seem to reply to eachother unless they are using PM. Maybe the excitement will build once we get closer to the date.
We finally got a good snow here in Tennessee. DS turned 3yo this month and this was the first snow deep enough for playing in since he was 9 or 10 months old and of course he was too young to play then. He had a great time. He also enjoyed the hot chocolate after but did not stay awake long enough for the cookies to come out of the oven.
I had better go now. I need to exercise and I have a little work I need to complete before going back to the office tomorrow. Weekends are way too short.

Rochelle (1/3 of Quackattack)

ROCHELLE: Good to hear from you. I read the other thread first and like this reply better because it is longer.
What is your job?
Your best bet for getting a thread for the cruise would be to start one with some title like CALLING ALL HALLOWEEN CRUISERS. The one we had last time got started in April so you may be right, it is too early now. So, keep lurking and get something going in a while. Some people may not even know they are going on that cruise this far out. Some book on short notice.

I can still access that thread, I saved it as a FAVORITE on my computer. You could copy some of the info about the Halloween activities onto the new thread and edit them a bit when you want to get it started.
DENA?? ROCHELLE?? EMMA?? Whoever wants to start it, if you want the web address to our old one, let me know.

RORY: Great quote!
"I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every single minute of it."

EMMA: Which movie is your quote from? What part?

There was a two day conference about an hour from my home that I attended Friday and Saturday. Two friends drove with me Friday and one on Sat. Friday we left in snowfall with about 5 inches on the ground. During the day about 7 more fell. Tom shoveled twice. We heard reports at the meeting that highways and toll road were closed and plows could not keep up with it. Some of the people decided to get hotel rooms and stay there the night. One of my friends had to be home so we decided to take our time and see how it went. We had no problem at all, slight flurries in one area and clear roads the whole way. Saturday there were some flurries where we were and about 7 more inches fell here.
Today we had no trouble getting to church. Then we got some groceries we forgot last night and came home for lunch. In the afternoon I went to the open house party for some friends who adopted a family of three boys to add to their family of three--two girls and a boy. Tom stayed home to get a start on the taxes.
The driving is not bad, but I keep thinking how much warmer it is in Florida.....
Hoping your day goes well,
Jan :earsgirl:

Today's quote:

Heaven doesn't want me and hell's afraid I'll take over.

Sorry, that one cracks me up.

I think EMMA's is from the first movie, but it could be from the second one. Anyone watch the Golden Globes last night? Lord of the Rings was up for best drama, but it was beaten by The Hours. Peter Jackson was up for best director but he was beaten by the director of Gangs of New York. The only person that I saw there from Lord of the Rings was Sean Astin who plays Samwise Gamgee.

hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe.

Sorry, I just felt like laughing. hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe..............

My quote is from FOTR (the first one). It's when Gandalf goes to see Saruman before he knows that he is on Sauron's side.

Today's is
"Tell me friend, when did Saruman the wise abandon reason for madness?"

Drama today was really funny but you probably had to be there to find it funny. We had to do our version of Titanic but we didnt do much work on it because we had to read some script first. Our idea is that the 2 lower class ppl take all the alcohol but they need ice to drink it with. They go and get the captin (who thinks he's driving another ship anyway) to drive up to the iceburg so they can get some ice. That was about as far as we got but it was so funny!

EMMA and RORY: I just e-mailed you my favorite picture from Titanic. If anyone else wants to see it, let me know. I can insert it in an e-mail but cannot make a connection here to get to it.
Your skit idea sounds funny, Emma.

Thanks for explaining the quotes from yesterday. Rory, where is your one about Heaven from?

Did not see Golden Globes. Sorry you were disappointed in the awards.

My morning patient is sick with the flu and a fever so her Mom canceled my visit. I am trying to get caught up with some computer stuff.

Have a good day all,
Jan :earsgirl:

Hey guys just wanted to say bye. We have the car loaded and are ready to head up the the cape. I'll talk to you on sunday.:p

Dena

:D DENA'S ON THE WONDER!! :D
I checked the web cam and saw the ship!

Here's hoping she has a WONDERful time. It will be nice to hear about her weekend when she gets home!

We got a little more snow today. My patient who was sick on Monday is still sick :( so I will not see her for a make-up visit today as I had thought. Poor baby :( Poor Mommy :(
That means I really do not have to go out if I don't want. NICE :)
I have been driving in the snow every winter since I got my driver's permit so that is a LONG time--like maybe 38 years--but I still would rather not.

Have a nice day,
Jan :earsgirl:

Hi everyone I'm home!:D As always, the trip was magical!!:jester: Although the weather was not! It was VERY cold. It even snowed in cape canaveral while we were gone!!! So needless to say I only spent about an hour on shore in Nassau and about 2 hours on Castaway Cay. I wore pants, a long sleeve shirt and a fleece on the beach:D

We had a very relaxing time, didnt go to any of the shows, but did see treasure planet which I LOVED!! and Chicago which I did not care for too much. We did go to Palos instead of animators palate. YUMMY! And I love the new menu at Parrot Cay. I had the baby back ribs and they are to die for:p

On Friday and Saturday afternoon, we had desserts delivered to our room courtesy of the inhouse dining staff. One day it was a plate with chocolate covered strawberries, and other pastries and the next day is was a plate of big chocolate chip cookies. They came with little cards thanking us for sailing again. I still am not sure why we got those, I wondered if it was because this was our 5th cruise. Whatever the reason, we enjoyed them very much.

We also bought two limited editon passholder pins. They are really cute.

The only downfall was that my Dad got sick the second day on board. He thinks it was from the lamb he had on the first night. So he missed Nassau and he missed going to Palos with us. But by Saturday morning he was back to his usual self. Thank God:)

Oh and I almost forgot, we booked cruise number 8!!:Pinkbounc
It is for October 30 of 2004 on the Magic. It is the eastern itinerary. And we got the four ajoining secret porthole rooms.;)

I am so spoiled.:p

Well, thats about all for now, unless I think of something else.

Dena:earsgirl:

Dena-Glad you had a great time. I started a Halloween Cruiser 2003 thread last night http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=320175&goto=newpost
if you want to take a look.

Today's quote is "I can avoid being seen if I wish but to disappear entirely-that is a rare gift."

I just filled in a form for when I go to London with school at the weekend and some of the questions are totally pointless! I mean take the second one for example "Where am I going to visit?"

DENA: Glad you had a good time. Sorry your Dad was ill. Even though it was cold, it was warmer where you were than here!;)
We have 6 new inches of snow on top of most of the 18 that fell last weekend. It is 12 degrees outside. Church was heated, but I was still cold. I have a two part jacket that I am glad I wore instead of my dress coat. I wore the outer wind-breaker layer over my blouse and sweater snapped up to the neck and put the inner fleece filled layer over my legs
Did you get a Castaway Club gift like a towel?
I wonder what they would do if someone would not or could not eat those cookies or chocolate covered strawberries? like me?
Adjoining secret porthole rooms--aww--can I come too??;)
Which ship are you on for Halloween this year?:p

EMMA and RORY: Thanks for the quotes and the reports on your doings. I am off to check out the Halloween thread now. If you want to copy the info from the first couple entries of our last one, I still have the link to it.

Jan :earsgirl:

Rory just sent me a quick e-mail and asked that I tell everyone:
I have relatives over for the next week so I can't really post on DIS. Can you tell everyone I said that I had to sing today I Don't Know How to Love Him and everyone loved it. Thanks.
Way to go Rory!

Jan--for Rory
