Halloween Costumes?

Last night, out of nowhere, my 4 year old declared he was going to be a Storm trooper for Halloween at Disneyland. Which would be fine, except I think it violates two rules - the one that says your face can't be covered, and the one that says you can't have weapons (and I think the blaster is part of the appeal of the costume for him).

Does anyone who has been to the Halloween parties previously remember how strict they are? I would have thought it would be a pretty common costume idea for boys this age?

I'd ask on this thread as there are lots of people who have done many of the Halloween parties.

We are all going as Jedi's I think. I think I remember someone saying if it didn't look like a weapon it would be ok - ie lightsabers

My son went last year dressed as Spider Man, complete with the mask. I can't remember what the deal was about the lightsabers (I think maybe the rules/restrictions were listed on the Halloween party tickets?)

Which thread did you mean TulipsNZ? I've been looking for a costumes thread and not found one, but I haven't been into the Halloween superthread yet, so maybe that's the one you mean.

I think the appeal of the Stormtrooper costume was the blaster, not a light saber, which is more weapon like.

These costume request will be the death of me. I'm a complete scrooge, and don't want to spend lots on them, but at the same time, I want my kids to have a "proper halloween" with the works!

sorry I did mean the superthread I just forgot to add the link.

I think the important thing with masks is that the eyes are visible. Disneyland supposedly sells a Darth kids mask with visible eyes. I understand about the blaster but it does specifically state nothing that looks like a weapon which is why I was wondering if a light saber would be an option. Maybe you could modify the storm trooper helmet to remove the eye section? I could go downstairs and check our helmets to see how easy that would be to do if you think he would accept that

Ok I checked out our storm trooper helmet and the section covering the eyes can be removed and replaced after - you will need a phillips head screwdriver, remove the rubber and you have access to the screws. I would ring customer service and ask about a blaster on a kids costume
http://kidscostumes.co.nz/star-wars-clone-trooper-stormtrooper-blaster.html what if he had something like this that still looks like a blaster but doesn't look like a real weapon?

DD and I went last year. We saw all sorts of masked costumes (including stormtroopers). The helmets had the eyes cleared...so you could see the people's eyes behind them. All was fine. We also saw an uggy buggy with cloth head and the fabric was attache to the person's face so that the eyelids (painted with makeup) where not covered. and that seemed okay too.

As far as the blaster...there were tons of face guns...it can't look like a real gun, knife, hatchet...whatever.

Hope this helps...and have a great time! It was a magical experience for us!

Well thank you both! That's very helpful. The second blaster is the one he was thinking of, but I prefer the cheaper first one ;)

I'm just happy to hear that someone has seen little Storm troopers running around previously. I'll go trawl through the Halloween super thread too when I have time :)

Now I just have to organise Anna and Elsa costumes for my girls (who are, of course, too big for the normal Disneystore dresses!).
