Since the weather in September seems to be warm, I am assuming it is warm in the evenings. DH and I are planning to go to Halloween Party. But I don't know what to do for a costume. DH is thing of Jack Sparrow.pirate: I am thinking if it is warm I'd like a costume that doesn't add heat.
Any suggestions?

don't wanna say anything negative but every 2nd guy goes as jack sparrow, trust me, last year there was so many of them, don't know if that kinda thing will annoy him....

We went this past September and it was quite hot and sticky at night. And I went as a pirate, mainly because both my boys insisted on it. There were lots of us pirates there. My wife, who was 6 months pregnant at the time, went as a fairy. She got some wings that she found at a Halloween store and just wore a solid coloured shirt with it. She was still hot, but not overheated.

Hmmm...:scratchin I figured pirates would be popular. Oh well it's what he wants. I'm leaning towards Tinker Bell. I really don't want a costume that will be too hot. I welcome any suggestions.:goodvibes

We did MNSSHP two years ago and my husband had golfed that afternoon. He ended up leaving early (dressed like a pirate I might add) because it was so humid that evening he couldn't take it any longer. Poor guy!
My kids and my hubby were pirates. I wore a hallowe'en t-shirt from Old Navy because I couldn't decide (even after 9 months of thinking about it!).
Dress lightly that's all I can say. There was a man dressed up like Jack Skellington complete in Santa suit and rubber mask. His wife was Sally in full make up. I felt so badly for them because I was so hot I couldn't imagine how they were doing it. But they gracefully let my son have his picture taken with them (he's a huge Jack fan).
The problem with Disney characters is that most of them wear ball gowns, or fur! lol Maybe Pocahontas would be a cooler choice?

Wear something COOL!

My family went last October (mid); DD was Sleeping Beauty and DS was the green Power Ranger - the night of the party it was still 80 degrees, and the kids were hot, sweaty and whiney!!!!

Not good.

So, it looks like I am definately going to be a cool Tinkerbelle. :tinker:I'm trying to explain to my DH it will be hot and maybe he should rethink his pirate costume.pirate: I think he should have cutoff/below the knee shorts and a cotton shirt for the top, a pirate hat or an eye patch. I know he had his heart set on Jack Sparrow, but maybe Jack will have a few cooler modifications.

Does anyone have any ideas for halloween costumes for a male in September when the weather is hot and humid ?

We went last Sept and are going to go again this year. I found some really great iron-on designs in the creative design section on this board. I ended up making shirts with pictures on the back and front themed for the party. My kids are 2 and 4 and they loved them so much last year they can't wait for me to do more this year. We bought halloween mickey hats at the park to wear. They also have free face painting the night of the party.

Hey , if you're going as Tink, how about another character from the show?
--If he's slim:): Peter Pan
a long green tshirt cinched with a belt, and the bottom cut on diagonal, add a long pair of slim green pants (or just a pr of green shorts), and sandals. Throw in a homemade wooden sword (put a loop on the belt for it) and a green felt hat (can that be easily made?)

--Or, if not so slim:rolleyes1: Mr. Smee!
A striped t, ragged pair of pants/long shorts, big wire rim glasses (no lens needed), and a red Toque, beret or headkerchief. Again a pair of sandals..... I think the toque/beret needs a pompom?... A bit of red blush on his nose.

Those would keep him in theme and comfy.
hee hee... and if you have kids, they could dress as various lost boys!

heehee... how secure is he? How about a costume just like yours? 2 Tinkerbells? :rotfl:

Another idea that has light clothing would be a shipwreck survivor... normal shorts and t, but torn up abit, and a prop like a swim ring (from the SS Minnow or Titanic, eg.... or! A wilson volleyball!)... he wouldn't have to shave or brush his hair beforehand!

hmm, any Napoleon Dynamite fans? tshirts with "Vote for Pedro", big 80's glasses...and those pants that velcro'd close at the waist.

Or a group dressed in blue shorts, red/white striped shorts with terrytowel wristbands and head bands--the Globe Trotters.... maybe an inflatable basketball or one of those mini basketball+hoops as a prop.

(Dang... think my age is showing in some of these ideas....long live the 70's and 80's!:cheer2:)

My costume last year was simply a black tshirt and black capris with Disney "words" mis-spelled written all over (in diff colour puffy paints, glow in the dark paints, etc).... And a beauty pageant sash over it "Miss Spelt"
(eg.... Days he ducked. Dawn All Duct.)....more of a game than a costume.... The CMs had a great time with it! Got me a few extra handfuls of candy at more than 1 stand!

DH has his heart on being a pirate. I think I've finally got through to him that Jack Sparrow's costume might be a bit too hot for 80 degrees ! As for Peter Pan and Smee, well he wasn't crazy about them. So, a pirate it is.

It's all relative. I'm going with a group of friends near the end of September, and we've all selected our costumes already. One Shan-Yu (villain from Mulan), one Cruella de Ville, and two of us going as Anastasia and Drizella. Yes, we're aware we're going to be hot, and that it will be humid, but we are happy to put up with that.

Putting it in perspective, I'm in the SCA and wear full Elizabethan garb outside, in the middle of July, for 14+ hours a day for anywhere from 2-5 days at a time. It's something you get used to! As Anastasia, at least I won't be wearing a corset!
