trying to plan our halloween costumes for the first halloween party (sept 28). We won't get there until it's dark and so i am not sure what the weather will be like at night. I wanted to get my DS9 a costume that had fleece pants and a fleece jacket but i am worried he will be too hot. Does it cool off quickly at night or does the heat linger? To put it in perspective, we wear shorts and a tshirt when it is 20 degrees (about 70 fahrenheit).

Locals will know better than I, however, in our experiences for the couple times we've been at the end of Sept and beginning of October, when it cools off in the evenings we are good with just adding a sweatshirt to keep warm. I honestly would think fleece would be too warm.

We were there mid-October in 2009 and did not need any jacket or sweatshirt for the TOT party. And DD6 was Rosetta, one of Tink's friends and still fine with no jacket.

It does tend to remain warm in early October/September, sometimes you may need a jacket other times you won't. California weather isn't always the same every year, but the one thing that is rather consistent is the fact that the Santa Ana Winds should be around then and those winds are no fun.

We've done two Halloween parties, 1 with the Santa Anas blowing and 1 without... both dd was fine in a princess costume (most of these have short sleeves)... but we're from Oregon and think 70 in October is warm!

Long sleeves are fine because it does get cooler at night, but I think fleece will be too hot.

I am a So Cal local and dressed as Minnie Mouse last year. I had knee socks and and a sweater for warmth. Most of the time I didn't need the sweater.

I think coming from BC you'll be fine in a lighter costume. We took sweatshirts on our trip last year, and only wore them once on our Magic Morning. And then we only wore them for about 20 minutes til the early fog cleared, and we were annoyed we had to carry them around ;) So if you are used to colder weather, your son will probably be fine in long sleeves and pants, or even in a T-shirt. Of course you'll see plenty of locals in jackets, but you will probably think it feels quite balmy!

We did the party last year on Halloween night and it was a drizzly, cool evening. We could see our breath it was so chilly. We wore t-shirts and jeans to start off our evening but took hoodies with us which we used once the sun went down and the moist air/drizzle (no idea what to call it lol) set in.
